CHI ISPIRA RESISTE. Mapecoo, Mural in Sciara, Sicily, Italy (2021) part of I Art Madonie Festival. The mural is inspired by the story of Francesca Serio and her son, Salvatore Carnevale, killed in Sciara in 1955 for defending workers’ rights. Francesca, who in her search for justice against a corrupt power became an activist and an example for many people, embraces his memory. It is also the representation of a mother’s hug charged with nostalgia, tenderness and strength. The colors of the mural are the colors of the landscape and part of the work integrates the original color and texture of the façade with the new paint in an embrace between the past and the present. María Peña Coto (1989), known as Mapecoo in the street, is a Spanish artist with a dense trajectory of exhibitions, mural projects, grants and awards that draw attention for their international extensions. She is graduate in Fine Arts by the University of Madrid, studies that she completed between Sao Paulo and London, supported by different grants. The Hug. NASIMO, Sofia, Bulgaria (2018). I started my artistic development as part of Bulgaria’s very first graffiti wave in the 90s. I have painted murals in Canada, Great Britain, Germany, Austria, Italy, Belgium, Portugal, Poland, Czech Republic, Romania, Serbia, Greece, Kosovo, Turkey, India, China and Russia. In 2009 I came with the term #Fine Graff Art which I believe is to be the child of graffiti and classical paintings. My approach technically is to meet the rеbellious expression of the street art and the fine delicacy of the traditional painting. I am doing this by using mixed media – oil, acrylic, spray, markers, and rollers. As I love to stretch with the changing world, I am looking forward to finding my way of working with the possibilities of technology also. After studying classical realist painting, Eloise combines painting in the studio with murals in public space, motivated by the direct connection between the artwork and communities. Her imagery is drawn from her surroundings, capturing subtle gestures in body language and movement. She creates images that open up to interpretation on individual as well as collective levels. New Jana & JS Street Art in Padley Street, Brick Lane, London, UK (2016). Austrian and French street artists Jana & Js are painting together since 2006. The pair create polychromed stencil murals widely ranging in size. Based primarily on their personal photographic work, the stencils seem to respond and interact with their surroundings. Mostly inspired by the city and people living in, their paintings merge urban landscape or architecture details with portrait, questioning the place of human being in the modern cities.
