When I started on my journey of painting, it all began with a book of Soundarya Lahari. My mentor had once mentioned to me that I would eventually write about Srividya, but at the time, I never imagined myself as a writer. Painting had always been my preferred form of expression, so I decided to create a piece depicting Maha Tripura Sundari. Little did I know, this decision would lead me down a long and transformative path - a journey that spanned a decade. Over the course of ten years, I meticulously painted 64 yoginis, each stroke of the brush bringing me closer to understanding Maha Tripura Sundari and Srividya. As my mentor had predicted, I eventually found myself compelled to write a book chronicling this incredible journey. I came to realize that my exploration of Maha Tripura Sundari and Srividya was just the beginning - a mere first step in truly knowing her. Now, I find myself collecting small shells from the seashore, symbolic of the offerings she bestows upon the earth through her waves. This book serves as a collection of these shells, each one representing a moment or revelation from my journey. “Y64” is an audio-visual expression of this profound and enlightening experience. #drbeenaunnikrishnan #beenaunnikrishnan #artist #creativestrategist #entrepreneur #spiritualtraveller #y64 #kankali #ktacedtrust #64yoginis #documentary #filmmaker #G100artleadershipandfilmswing #wicciartsleadershipcouncil #hinduism #shakthi #sakthi #coexistence #femininepower #ardhanaareeshwaara #shiva #srividhya #srividya

This underscores the importance of spiritual knowledge in connecting with the Divine, leading to profound love and guidance towards liberation. The hymn signifies the transformation of rituals into pure devotion, culminating in spiritual evolution. Maha Swami praises Shankaracharya’s humility and poetic brilliance, highlighting his dedication to Amba, inspired by traditional rituals. The hymn, symbolizing total surrender, is offered to Amba as a tiny flame before her radiance. Shankaracharya acknowledges the Divine Mother as the source of all speech, expressing that the hymn belongs to her. Maha Swami urges immersion in the nectarine beauty of Soundarya Lahari to merge with its essence, emphasizing total surrender to Amba’s grace. The revered philosopher Shankaracharya expounded this in the 99th verse of the Soundarya Lahari, celebrating the devotee’s profound union with the Divine Mother. In this verse, he illustrates how the yogi attains spiritual knowledge, material prosperity, & eternal youthfulness through profound worship. Liberation, merging individual consciousness with the Supreme, brings about perpetual bliss. The jivanmukta, liberated while living, embodies the principles of dharma, artha, kama, & moksha, prioritizing philanthropy & spiritual pursuit over worldly desires. His interpretation of this verse is a powerful testament to the transformative power of devotion to the Divine Mother. He emphasizes Saraswathi Vilasa (knowledge) over Lakshmi Vilasa (prosperity), advocating for spiritual maturity after fulfilling worldly desires. This profound worship of the Divine Mother yields rewards such as liberation, wealth, good health, & long life, a testament to the transformative power of devotion. Amba, revered for granting life and authority to Manmatha, symbolizes the culmination of worldly benefits. The liberation that ensues cuts the noose of desire, freeing the devotee from the cycle of existence to become one with Shiva. Despite Amba’s subservience to Parama Shiva, she supports the devotee’s spiritual evolution, ensuring profound union & liberation in kaivalya. Thus, his interpretation of this verse underscores the transformative power of devotion to the Divine Mother & the attainment of ultimate freedom, a journey that inspires & motivates. In summary, this verse communicates the advantages of worshipping the Divine Mother. At the pinnacle of devotion, the distinction between her and the yogi dissolves, leading to their unified state. As devotion deepens into love for the Divine Mother, worldly attachments fade away, & the yogi remains in Her presence, eagerly awaiting liberation with Her blessing. #drbeenaunnikrishnan #beenaunnikrishnan #artist #creativestrategist #spiritualtraveller #y64 #kankali #ktacedtrust #64yoginis #documentary #filmmaker #coexistence #G100artleadershipandfilmswing #hinduism #sakthi #ardhanaareeshwaara #shiva #srividya #soundaryalahari

In the 98th verse of Soundarya Lahari, Shankaracharya, in his humble quest for spiritual knowledge, invokes the divine grace of Parashakti. He employs powerful metaphors, such as drinking water to cleanse the goddess’s feet & tasting the taste of betel from Sarasvati’s mouth, to symbolize the profound transformative power of divine blessings. These underscore the central theme, highlighting the profound impact of devotion & the transformative potential it holds, suggesting that even a dumb person can become a skilled poet or a deaf person, a sensitive listener, by virtue of consuming the sacred water that cleanses the goddess’s feet. In this verse, with its rich symbolism, has been interpreted in various ways, each offering unique insights into different aspects of spiritual practice. For instance, Pandita Lakshmi Dhara suggests that the seeker’s quest for drinking the water used to wash her feet symbolizes the pursuit of Saameepya Mukti, a relative form of liberation. He also associates the verse with the Samaya doctrine of worshiping Devi in the Sahasrara Chakra, where the seeker longs for the blessings of Parashakti. These interpretations, each with its own depth & nuance, enrich our understanding of the verse’s spiritual significance. This can be understood on both gross & subtle levels. Grossly, he praises the potency of divine blessings, citing the eg. of Mukakavi, a dumb poet who gained speech after receiving the her grace. He emphasizes the seeker’s humility & devotion’s profound transformative power. This alludes to Samayacara worship, where the seeker contemplates Devi’s subtle form, Kundalini. His composition in Bhavanibhjangam adores Devi’s form as she resides in the chakras, especially in Sahasrara, where she causes nectar to flow. This subtle interpretation underscores the seeker’s journey through spiritual practices, aiming for the realization of her divine presence within. #drbeenaunnikrishnan #beenaunnikrishnan #artist #creativestrategist #spiritualtraveller #y64 #kankali #ktacedtrust #64yoginis #documentary #filmmaker #G100artleadershipandfilmswing #hinduism #shakthi #femininepower #ardhanaareeshwaara #shiva #srividya #soundaryalahari

The 97th verse of Soundarya Lahari reveals Devi’s divine essence, acknowledging her as the consort of Paramashiva, the Supreme Brahman. While she is revered as Sarasvati, Lakshmi, and Himavan’s daughter, her true nature transcends these conventional forms. She embodies the infinite glory and inscrutable power of the ultimate reality. The verse delves into the concepts of Parabrahman and Mahamaya, elucidating their significance in understanding the divine dynamics of Shiva and Shakti. Parabrahman, also known as Paramashiva, represents the absolute reality beyond all names and forms. Mahamaya, the divine potency of illusion, serves as the creative force behind the universe, both obscuring and revealing Brahman’s true nature. Mahamaya’s role is multifaceted, driving beings towards seeking the ultimate truth through her spell of illusion. The verse highlights the interplay between māyā and avidyā, essential in the journey of self-realization. The verse also introduces the concept of turya, the fourth stage of consciousness beyond waking, dreaming, and deep sleep. The 96th verse of Soundarya Lahari illustrates Devi’s unique essence, contrasting her unattainable purity with Sarasvati and Lakshmi’s accessibility. While Sarasvati and Lakshmi bless poets and the wealthy, Devi’s grace is elusive, accessible only to Shiva. This signifies that while Sarasvati’s grace is obtained through learning and Lakshmi’s through wealth, Devi’s grace is beyond reach for most. Metaphorically, Devi’s unapproachability symbolizes her role as the source of ultimate liberation, embodying the divine power underlying Sarasvati’s knowledge and Lakshmi’s wealth. Through Devi’s grace, one can attain mokṣa, the ultimate goal of human life, as elucidated in ancient scriptures. Further exploration reveals Devi’s integral role in the cosmic order as Shiva’s consort and the ultimate source of spiritual enlightenment. The verse describes the moon as a vessel filled with musk, with its rays akin to edible camphor, symbolizing Devi’s celestial purification. Brahma’s replenishing of the vessel signifies the cyclical nature of worship and rejuvenation. One interpretation suggests the importance of worshipping Devi during the night, as symbolized by her bath in the moon’s rays, while Brahma’s refilling of the vessel represents the dawn of a new day. In Soundarya Lahari verse 92, the symbolism of Parashakti’s cosmic throne, adorned by the Trimurtis Brahma-Vishnu-Rudra and Ishana, reflects a profound synthesis of cosmic energies. Brahma-Vishnu-Rudra-Ishvara-Sadashiva, representing creation, sustenance, dissolution, concealment, and re-creation, respectively, form the structural foundation of creation, symbolized by Parashakti’s divine seat. As the dynamic energy or kinetic force, she empowers these functional heads, without whom they would be inert corpses. This underscores Her supreme authority and role as the essential dynamic energy of the universe. The verse further elucidates the profound and deeply resonant love between Paramaśiva and Parāśakti, depicted through the contrasting yet complementary crystal white and dark red complexions. This union, a testament to the power of love, represents the essence of śṛṅgārarasa, the embodiment of love and desire, essential for creation and compassionate nurturing of the world. Parashakti’s red lustre transforms Paramaśiva’s white complexion, symbolizing the infusion of love and compassion into the tranquil state of universal absorption. The verse metaphorically portrays the gradual transformation and purification of the soul, mirroring the deep and complex journey toward realizing the ultimate truth, to wading through an ocean. Parashakti’s captivating steps, like those of royal swans, are portrayed as imparting celestial wisdom while her anklets, adorned with gems, emit melodious sounds to mystical mantras, further enhancing the sense of divine grace. This verse underscores the profound significance of meditating on Parashakti’s feet, often compared to lotus flowers for their softness and beauty. The reference to Lalita Sahasranama’s names further emphasizes her divine attributes, deepening the sense of devotion. The swans in Mahakailasa symbolize the purified mind, engaged in perpetual practice to emulate Parashakti’s gait yet unable to fully embody her grace, inspiring a sense of dedication and commitment in the readers. The verse’s subtle conveyances highlight Mahakailasa as the abode of Paramashiva and Parashakti, transcending human comprehension. The swans represent the purified mind, while the anklets symbolize Parashakti’s divine teachings. The verse elucidates Parashakti’s supremacy in governing the universe through intricate interpretations, manifesting creation, sustenance, and dissolution through the Sri Chakra and various devi forms. #drbeenaunnikrishnan #beenaunnikrishnan #artist #creativestrategist #entrepreneur #spiritualtraveller #y64 #kankali #ktacedtrust #64yoginis #documentary #filmmaker #G100artleadershipandfilmswing #wicciartsleadershipcouncil #hinduism #shakthi #sakthi #coexistence #femininepower #ardhanaareeshwaara #shiva #srividhya #srividya #soundaryalahari

Soundarya Lahari verse 89 extols the divine attributes of Parashakti’s feet, addressing her as Caṇḍi. The verse metaphorically compares her toenails, resembling the moon, to celestial trees granting boons. While heavenly trees fulfil the desires of gods and goddesses, Parashakti’s feet immediately bestow wealth upon the divine and impoverished humans upon request. The imagery of moon-shaped toenails overshadowing the beauty of celestial damsels’ arms emphasizes the unparalleled grace and abundance emanating from her feet. Through this verse, Shankaracharya underscores Parashakti’s readiness to grant the wishes of sincere devotees, regardless of their social status or spiritual attainment. Furthermore, the verse emphasizes the importance of understanding the subtle meanings behind spiritual texts and practices. It suggests that mere recitation without comprehension may not yield the full benefits of spiritual realization. Parashakti’s feet symbolize enlightenment and liberation, offering solace and guidance to seekers on the path to self-realization. The reference to Caṇḍi underscores her multifaceted nature, capable of assuming various forms and blessing her devotees. Overall, Soundarya Lahari verse 89 elucidates the profound significance of surrendering to Parashakti’s feet, which dispel darkness and ignorance and grant abundance and spiritual awakening to those who seek refuge in her divine grace. #drbeenaunnikrishnan #beenaunnikrishnan #artist #creativestrategist #entrepreneur #spiritualtraveller #y64 #kankali #ktacedtrust #64yoginis #documentary #filmmaker #G100artleadershipandfilmswing #wicciartsleadershipcouncil #hinduism #shakthi #sakthi #coexistence #femininepower #ardhanaareeshwaara #shiva #srividhya #srividya #soundaryalahari

Soundarya Lahari verse 88 delves into the symbolism of the Kurma Avatar, where Vishnu manifests as a tortoise to stabilize the churning of the cosmic ocean. This divine act required the most authoritarian base, exemplified by the tortoise’s back, and was essential for the success of the cosmic venture. Shankaracharya marvels at the tender care exhibited by Shiva during Parashakti’s marriage, where he gently placed her soft feet on a grinding stone, symbolizing the divine union between feminine and masculine energies. Meditating on Parashakti’s feet is likened to melting the hardness of one’s heart, leading to spiritual realization and bliss. The verse emphasizes the profound significance of worshipping Parashakti’s feet, symbolizing humility and devotion. Shankaracharya urges devotees to surrender their egos and place her feet in their minds and hearts, acknowledging her supremacy and attaining enlightenment. Soundarya Lahari verse 87 celebrates the unparalleled glory of Parashakti’s sacred feet, surpassing the beauty of lotus flowers. The feet, symbolizing worldly joy and eternal bliss, remain fresh and vibrant day and night, contrasting with the lotus’s vulnerability to snow and darkness. Shankaracharya emphasizes the supremacy of mental worship (samayācāra) over ritualistic worship (vāmācāra), highlighting its ability to evoke perpetual divine grace. Through samayācāra, practitioners attain inner purification, awakening the three śakti-s and ultimately experiencing profound bliss. The verse underscores the importance of internal devotion and the transformative power of spiritual practice, urging devotees to seek divine union through mental worship. Shankaracharya’s poetic imagery portrays the cosmic significance of Parashakti’s feet, which bestow blessings and prosperity upon those who honour them. This profound teaching elucidates the path to spiritual realization, emphasizing the supremacy of inner worship in attaining divine grace and enlightenment. Soundarya Lahari verse 86 portrays an intimate moment between Shiva and Parashakti, revealing their profound unity. Shiva playfully calls Parashakti by another name, evoking her playful anger. In her fury, she lightly kicks Shiva’s third eye, resulting in a jingling sound from her anklets resembling the giggles of Manmatha, whom she previously revived after Shiva’s burning gaze. This scene symbolizes the inseparable bond between Shiva and Parashakti, where even their playful quarrels reflect their cosmic unity. The verse underscores the tantric theme of romanticized divine relationships and the interplay of love and devotion. Shankaracharya’s poetic portrayal emphasizes the mystical closeness between devotee and deity, advocating a worship that transcends dualism for a blissful union with the divine. Through this playful interaction, Shankaracharya subtly explores the more profound metaphysical concepts of the nondual nature of reality and the holy union. He describes her feet as adorned with henna, radiating beauty and grace. The metaphor of the Ashoka tree being kicked by the goddess in her joyous garden symbolizes her divine power and ability to bring forth life and abundance. While Śiva, her consort, becomes jealous of the Ashoka tree, it represents his admiration for her creative abilities in sustaining the universe. The verse also highlights the dynamic relationship between Śiva and Śakti, where Śiva represents the static energy and Śakti the kinetic energy. In the 84th verse of Soundarya Lahiri, the poet praises the goddess’s sacred feet and compares them to various divine symbols and experiences. He describes the particles of dust from her lotus feet as red like Sindoor, which adorns the foreheads of virtuous women. These feet are washed by the sacred waters of the Shiva Jataabhara Ganga and adorned with the lustrous Koustubha gem, usually worn by Maha Vishnu. The metaphor suggests the unparalleled sanctity and divinity of the goddess’s feet, adorned with the highest symbols of reverence and devotion. The verse also references mythological stories, such as the tale of Devi Lakshmi falling at the feet of Vishnu, which resulted in the manifestation of red flower particles from the lotus flowers at her feet. Additionally, the poet emphasizes the significance of seeking refuge at the goddess’s feet, as it is believed to lead to liberation and self-realization. Holding the goddess’s feet symbolizes surrender and devotion, allowing the devotee to attain spiritual enlightenment. In the 83rd verse of Soundarya Lahiri, the poet compares the goddess’s feet to the quivers of Manmadha, the god of love. Manmadha, whose physical form was destroyed by Shiva’s third eye, seeks revenge by doubling the number of his arrows and carrying two quivers. Sharp and potent quivers represent his resolve to provoke emotions and actions in beings across creation. The imagery of Manmadha’s quivers hanging on either side of his mystical shoulders overshadows the brightness of the Indraadi Devas’ headgear. The metaphor suggests the potency and impact of desire (represented by Manmadha) compared to the reverence shown to the gods. The poet implies that the goddess’s feet, akin to the lotus stalk, can grant liberation (moksha) to devotees merely by remembrance. Despite Shiva’s destruction of Manmadha’s physical form, the goddess retains a compassionate regard for him, recognizing the role of desire in sustaining creation. The verse explores the interplay between desire, devotion, and liberation, emphasizing the goddess’s pivotal role in the cosmic order and her benevolent nature towards all beings. #drbeenaunnikrishnan #beenaunnikrishnan #artist #creativestrategist #entrepreneur #spiritualtraveller #y64 #kankali #ktacedtrust #64yoginis #documentary #filmmaker #G100artleadershipandfilmswing #wicciartsleadershipcouncil #hinduism #shakthi #sakthi #coexistence #femininepower #ardhanaareeshwaara #shiva #srividhya #srividya #soundaryalahari

In the 82nd verse of Soundarya Lahiri, the poet praises the goddess’s thighs and knees, adorned with exquisite beauty and divine significance. He describes her thighs as endowed with the splendour exclusively known to Kamesha, the lord of desire, while her headgear shines with priceless diamonds, symbolizing her unparalleled glory. The metaphor compares the goddess’s thighs to the sturdy trunks of Gajendra, the king of elephants, and her knees to the sacred vessel (kumbhasthala) of Iravata, Devendra’s (Indra) celestial elephant. The imagery evokes the majesty of these heavenly beings and emphasizes the goddess’s divine attributes and connection to the cosmic realm. Additionally, the poet highlights the significance of the goddess’s knees, which become hardened due to her repeated prostrations to Shiva. This transformation from softness to hardness symbolizes the goddess’s dedication to following the injunctions of the scriptures (shastras) and setting an example of obedience and devotion. Overall, the verse celebrates the goddess’s physical beauty and spiritual significance, portraying her as the embodiment of grace, devotion, and divine knowledge. In the 81st verse of the Soundarya Lahiri, the poet praises the goddess’s buttocks, comparing them to the majestic Himalayan mountains. He describes them as adorned in red garments, symbolizing their significance and grandeur. The metaphor of Himavan, the father of the goddess, gifting a portion of the Himalayas to Parama Shiva as a wedding gift to Parvati highlights the immense value and weight of her dowry. The imagery suggests that Parvati’s buttocks, inheriting the vastness and weight of the Himalayas, symbolize her role as the bearer of the world’s burdens. By covering the entire universe with her broad buttocks, she lightens the load for Parama Shiva and makes existence more enjoyable. Through this metaphor, the poet emphasizes the goddess’s divine attributes as the creator, sustainer, and protector of the universe. Her immense strength and capacity to carry the world’s weight demonstrate her boundless love and compassion for her children. Thus, the verse celebrates Parvati’s role as the nurturing mother who alleviates the troubles of her devotees. #drbeenaunnikrishnan #beenaunnikrishnan #artist #creativestrategist #entrepreneur #spiritualtraveller #y64 #kankali #ktacedtrust #64yoginis #documentary #filmmaker #G100artleadershipandfilmswing #wicciartsleadershipcouncil #hinduism #shakthi #sakthi #coexistence #femininepower #ardhanaareeshwaara #shiva #srividhya #srividya #soundaryalahari

In the 80th verse of the Soundarya Lahari, the poet employs metaphorical imagery to describe the goddess’s waist and breasts. He compares the folds on her waist to the three strands of the Lavali Creeper, which Kaamadeva wounds to prevent them from breaking under the weight of her swollen breasts. This signifies her immense love for Shambhu. The Lavali Creeper metaphor and its three strands represent various triads or threesomes: • Past, present, and future • The three gunas (qualities) • The three goddesses (Durga, Lakshmi, and Sarasvati) • The three worlds (Bhur, Bhuva, and Svaha) This imagery suggests the goddess’s profound connection to the cosmic order and her embodiment of divine qualities. Additionally, the verse praises the goddess’s exemplary devotion (Pativratya) to Parameshvara, symbolizing purity of thought and action. Kaamadeva depicts her waist, adorned with the three lines, securely tied, ensuring the stability of her form amidst the weight of her breasts. Overall, the verse celebrates the goddess’s divine attributes, unwavering love, and integral role in maintaining cosmic harmony. Despite the sensual imagery employed, the verse ultimately transcends mere physicality, hinting at the divine presence within the goddess’s form. It speaks to the worshipper’s deep reverence and awe in the face of such divine beauty, urging contemplation and devotion. Thus, while celebrating the aesthetic allure of the goddess’s navel, the verse also invites reflection on the more profound spiritual mysteries it represents. #drbeenaunnikrishnan #beenaunnikrishnan #artist #creativestrategist #entrepreneur #spiritualtraveller #y64 #kankali #ktacedtrust #64yoginis #documentary #filmmaker #G100artleadershipandfilmswing #wicciartsleadershipcouncil #hinduism #shakthi #sakthi #coexistence #femininepower #ardhanaareeshwaara #shiva #srividhya #srividya #soundaryalahari

The 79th verse of the Soundarya Lahiri portrays the delicate balance between the slender waist and the heavy breasts of the goddess. The imagery evokes the image of the waist being potentially overwhelmed by the weight of the breasts, suggesting a precarious equilibrium. The comparison to a riverbed breaking down under the force of water highlights the vulnerability of the waist to the weight above it. Just as a strong tree on the riverbank risks being swept away by the current, the waist faces the constant threat of being overshadowed by the prominence of the breasts. The metaphor underscores the fragility of physical beauty and the ephemeral nature of form. Despite the goddess’s inherent grace and auspiciousness, there is a sense of vulnerability, a reminder of the impermanence of all things. This verse thus serves as a meditation on the transitory nature of physical attributes and the need to cherish and protect them. It urges reverence for the delicate balance of existence, where even the slightest imbalance can lead to disruption and destruction. #drbeenaunnikrishnan #beenaunnikrishnan #artist #creativestrategist #entrepreneur #spiritualtraveller #y64 #kankali #ktacedtrust #64yoginis #documentary #filmmaker #G100artleadershipandfilmswing #wicciartsleadershipcouncil #hinduism #shakthi #sakthi #coexistence #femininepower #ardhanaareeshwaara #shiva #srividhya #srividya #soundaryalahari

Verse 77 of Soundarya Lahari presents a vivid metaphor depicting the goddess as embodying both Shiva and Shakti. The verse describes a delicate line along the goddess’s midsection, compared to the gentle waves of the Yamuna River. This line, nestled between her ample breasts and leading towards her navel, is seen as a symbol of the ethereal space compressed by her form. 76 verse from Soundarya Lahari delves into a rich metaphor where the goddess Parvati’s navel is likened to a deep pond. As the god of love, Kama, is consumed by Shiva’s fiery anger, he seeks refuge in this pond. The extinguished fire gives rise to a wisp of smoke, which onlookers perceive as a trail of hair ascending from Parvati’s navel. Verse 74 of the Soundarya Lahiri, composed by Adi Shankaracharya, uses rich metaphorical language to describe the divine beauty and glory of the Goddess Devi. In simple terms, this verse speaks of a garland made from pearls, which the Goddess wears across her breasts. These pearls are not ordinary but are said to be derived from the head of the demon Gajasura, symbolizing the triumph of divine purity and wisdom over ignorance and evil. The verse paints a vivid picture where the purity of the pearls (representing spiritual wisdom and victory) contrasts with the violent origin of the demon’s skull. This juxtaposition signifies the transformation of negative forces into positive, spiritual ones. The pearls’ whiteness symbolizes purity, while the red tint from Devi’s lips adds a dimension of passionate spirituality. Moreover, the garland adorning Devi’s breasts is not just a physical ornament but a metaphor for the spiritual qualities she embodies. It symbolizes how the divine feminine transforms brutal strength (the elephant demon) into serene beauty and wisdom. The red tint from her lips hints at the underlying vigor and dynamism of her compassionate yet powerful nature. Thus, the verse celebrates Devi’s majestic and transformative power. It’s a blend of the fierce and the serene, the violent and the pure, portraying Devi as a figure who embodies and transcends these dualities. The poetic expression here highlights how the divine feminine principle sublimates raw power into spiritual enlightenment, presenting Devi as a symbol of ultimate harmony and balance. #drbeenaunnikrishnan #beenaunnikrishnan #artist #creativestrategist #entrepreneur #spiritualtraveller #y64 #kankali #ktacedtrust #64yoginis #documentary #filmmaker #G100artleadershipandfilmswing #wicciartsleadershipcouncil #hinduism #shakthi #sakthi #coexistence #femininepower #ardhanaareeshwaara #shiva #srividhya #srividya #soundaryalahari

In verse 73 of Soundarya lahari, the Maha Swami of Kanchi explains that the breast milk of Jagat Janani (the Divine Mother) is more potent than amrita, the divine nectar. This milk grants eternal youth to her sons, Ganesha and Kumara, keeping them forever youthful. Maha Swami interprets this to mean that her milk embodies wisdom and keeps them free from worldly desires. He suggests that Ganesha and Kumara, being nourished by such milk, are focused on spiritual wisdom rather than physical pleasures. This concept is also seen in the way Ganesha and Kumara are depicted in different regions of India: Ganesha as a bachelor in the South and with consorts Siddhi and Buddhi in the North, and Kumara with two consorts in some traditions. Overall, the idea is that the breast milk of the Divine Mother is not ordinary but imbued with spiritual knowledge. #drbeenaunnikrishnan #beenaunnikrishnan #artist #creativestrategist #entrepreneur #spiritualtraveller #y64 #kankali #ktacedtrust #64yoginis #documentary #filmmaker #G100artleadershipandfilmswing #wicciartsleadershipcouncil #hinduism #shakthi #sakthi #coexistence #femininepower #ardhanaareeshwaara #shiva #srividhya #srividya #soundaryalahari

In the 72 verses of Soundarya Lahari, Sankara imagines a heartwarming scene where Devi, as a mother, simultaneously feeds her two children, Vinayaka (Ganesha) and Kumaraswamy (Kartikeya). This image highlights Devi’s nurturing and compassionate nature. Her children, unable to wait their turn due to hunger, each feed from one of Devi’s breasts. This depiction is a testament to a mother’s love and care, overflowing like the milk she provides. In this portrayal, Sankara uses a bit of playful exaggeration. He imagines Vinayaka, known for his elephant head, touching his head to ensure it’s still there, a gesture that amuses his divine parents. This scene is a blend of maternal love and light-hearted humour. Sankara sees Devi’s breasts as a symbol of beauty and as a source of life and nourishment, emphasizing their biological and spiritual importance. Furthermore, these descriptions highlight the deep bond between the divine mother and her children. Devi’s role in nurturing her sons with the milk of knowledge and wisdom is seen as a blessing to devotees seeking enlightenment and well-being. This nurturing aspect of Devi is revered and celebrated, depicting her as a source of sustenance, both physical and spiritual, for her children and devotees alike. #drbeenaunnikrishnan #beenaunnikrishnan #artist #creativestrategist #entrepreneur #spiritualtraveller #y64 #kankali #ktacedtrust #64yoginis #documentary #filmmaker #G100artleadershipandfilmswing #wicciartsleadershipcouncil #hinduism #shakthi #sakthi #coexistence #femininepower #ardhanaareeshwaara #shiva #srividhya #srividya #soundaryalahari

The verses 71 of Soundarya lahari describe the incredible beauty of Parāśakthi’s hands, a beauty so magnificent that it challenges description. Śaṁkarācārya struggles to find words to capture their splendour, much like the difficulty in describing the divine essence of Brahman, which is beyond human expression. He compares the radiant, red glow of Parāśakthi’s nails to the blossoming of lotus flowers, but even this comparison falls short of truly capturing their beauty. The goddess Lakṣmī, known for her presence in lotus flowers and henna-adorned feet, is brought into the comparison. The radiance of lotus flowers, said to come from Lakṣmī’s feet, is still not comparable to the splendour of Parāśakti’s hands. This illustrates the challenge of depicting divine beauty and the limitations of human language in expressing such sublime concepts. Additionally, there’s a mention of the name “Umā,” given to Parāśakti during her youth when she practised austerities to attain Śiva as her consort. #drbeenaunnikrishnan #beenaunnikrishnan #artist #creativestrategist #entrepreneur #spiritualtraveller #y64 #kankali #ktacedtrust #64yoginis #documentary #filmmaker #G100artleadershipandfilmswing #wicciartsleadershipcouncil #hinduism #shakthi #sakthi #coexistence #femininepower #ardhanaareeshwaara #shiva #srividhya #srividya #soundaryalahari

70 verse of Soundarya Lahari describes the goddess in vivid detail, glowing like a thousand suns, adorned with golden ornaments, and holding symbolic items in her four hands, representing different aspects of life and consciousness. In this context, Brahmā acknowledges her superiority and pleads for her protection and mercy, recognizing her as a source of solace and safety. This tale underscores the goddess’s power and the intricate dynamics and respect within the pantheon of Hindu deities. Brahmā, originally a five-headed deity, found himself in a dire situation in a mythological narrative. Different stories explain the loss of his fifth head, involving actions by Śiva, such as cutting it off or burning it with his third eye. Some versions involve Kālabhairava, an incarnation of Śiva, or cite Brahmā’s infatuation with Saraswathī, leading to Śiva’s wrath. Ultimately, Brahmā was left with four heads. In desperation, Brahmā sought refuge with Parāśakti, a supreme goddess, hoping her divine hands would offer protection. He had previously revered her feet, as mentioned in sacred texts, but now hoped for her direct intervention. Despite the complexity of their divine relationships and the nuances of their manifestations, this plea highlights the goddess’s ultimate authority and the respect even gods like Brahmā must pay her. #drbeenaunnikrishnan #beenaunnikrishnan #artist #creativestrategist #entrepreneur #spiritualtraveller #y64 #kankali #ktacedtrust #64yoginis #documentary #filmmaker #G100artleadershipandfilmswing #wicciartsleadershipcouncil #hinduism #shakthi #sakthi #coexistence #femininepower #ardhanaareeshwaara #shiva #srividhya #srividya #soundaryalahari

Verse 69 of the Soundarya Lahari praises Parāśakti’s neck, equating it with expertise in music. Three lines on her neck symbolize the musical notes, reminiscent of the three threads of the mangala sutra tied by Śiva during their wedding. These threads represent auspicious qualities like happiness and longevity. Parāśakti’s neck, adorned with the Mangala sutra, becomes the seat of music and knowledge associated with Devi Sarasvati. The commentator, Maha Swami of Kanchi, relates this to Adi Shankara Bhagavad Paada’s proficiency in sixty-four arts, particularly music. He explains the significance of gati (rhythmic patterns), Gamaka (ornamentation), and Geeta (song) in Indian music. Parāśakti’s neck folds represent the three divisions of musical notes. Maha Swami also delves into the symbolism of Adam’s apple and the origin of musical notes in Parāśakti’s throat. The wedding rituals, including the tying of the mangala sutra and the ritual of Paanigrahana, are elaborated upon, emphasizing their significance and universality. #drbeenaunnikrishnan #beenaunnikrishnan #artist #creativestrategist #entrepreneur #spiritualtraveller #y64 #kankali #ktacedtrust #64yoginis #documentary #filmmaker #G100artleadershipandfilmswing #wicciartsleadershipcouncil #hinduism #shakthi #sakthi #coexistence #femininepower #ardhanaareeshwaara #shiva #srividhya #srividya #soundaryalahari

Verse 68 of the Soundarya Lahari describes Śiva sitting beside Parāśakti and putting his arm around her neck. This gesture gives her goosebumps, causing her neck to resemble the stem of a lotus flower. Like the soft lotus stem with tiny bristles, her neck appears delicate. Her face is likened to the flower with her neck compared to the lotus stem. Her face is as radiant as a pure pearl necklace she wears, but the necklace has turned dark due to the application of a black fragrant paste made from arugula bark. This necklace, half white and half black, is also compared to the black roots of the lotus stem. Verse 67 of swandarya lahari shows a sweet moment between Parāśakti and Śiva. Her father, Himavān, gently touches her chin with love. But it’s Śiva who keeps lifting her chin as if wanting to kiss her lips. When he does this, his hand looks like a handle on a mirror, and Parāśakti’s face shines like the mirror’s surface. Shankaracharya finds this scene incredibly special, saying there’s nothing quite like it. He compares it to when Parāśakti was a child, and her father loved touching her chin. Now that she’s married to Śiva, he lifts her chin and cheeks affectionately, planning to kiss her shyly bowed lips. Overflowing with joy, Śiva lifts her face and kisses her lips, his hands eager to caress her bright cheeks as if they were his favourite toys. This moment captures the deep love between Parāśakti and Śiva. #drbeenaunnikrishnan #beenaunnikrishnan #artist #creativestrategist #entrepreneur #spiritualtraveller #y64 #kankali #ktacedtrust #64yoginis #documentary #filmmaker #G100artleadershipandfilmswing #wicciartsleadershipcouncil #hinduism #shakthi #sakthi #coexistence #femininepower #ardhanaareeshwaara #shiva #srividhya #srividya #soundaryalahari

Verse 66 of the Soundarya Lahari praises the beautiful voice of Parāśakti. Sarasvatī, the goddess of knowledge and music, sings the glories of Śiva while playing her vīṇā. Parāśakti listens attentively, nodding in approval and expressing appreciation for the melodies. Sometimes, she openly praises the meaning and the melody by nodding and saying words like “good” or “excellent.” However, when Sarasvatī hears Parāśakti’s sweet voice, she feels embarrassed. Parāśakti’s voice is even more melodious and captivating than Sarasvatī’s singing and the music of her vīṇā. Overwhelmed by this comparison, Sarasvatī quietly covers her vīṇā, feeling ashamed. This verse highlights the immense beauty and power of Parāśakti’s voice, which surpasses even the goddess of music herself. #drbeenaunnikrishnan #beenaunnikrishnan #artist #creativestrategist #entrepreneur #spiritualtraveller #y64 #kankali #ktacedtrust #64yoginis #documentary #filmmaker #G100artleadershipandfilmswing #wicciartsleadershipcouncil #hinduism #shakthi #sakthi #coexistence #femininepower #ardhanaareeshwaara #shiva #srividhya #srividya #soundaryalahari

Verse 65 of the Soundarya Lahari highlights the greatness of Parāśakti. Skanda, Indra, and Viṣṇu are known for defeating demons that disrupt dharma, or righteousness, in the world. These demons are persistent wrongdoers who refuse to change their ways. After battling demons as directed by Parāśakti, Skanda, Indra, and Viṣṇu rush to report to her without removing their protective gear. Despite their haste, they show respect by removing their head coverings when they stand before her. The verse also mentions Caṇḍikeśvara, a guardian in Śiva temples. He ensures visitors don’t take anything belonging to Śiva. Caṇḍikeśvara’s devotion to Śiva led to his appointment as a guard. He eats only Śiva’s leftovers, which are considered highly valuable. But Skanda, Indra, and Viṣṇu not only report to Parāśakti but also wait for the remnants of her tāmbhūla, a mix of betel leaves and edible camphor, believed to bestow immense knowledge. This practice underscores their reverence and devotion for Parāśakti, emphasizing her grace. #drbeenaunnikrishnan #beenaunnikrishnan #artist #creativestrategist #entrepreneur #spiritualtraveller #y64 #kankali #ktacedtrust #64yoginis #documentary #filmmaker #G100artleadershipandfilmswing #wicciartsleadershipcouncil #hinduism #shakthi #sakthi #coexistence #femininepower #ardhanaareeshwaara #shiva #srividhya #srividya #soundaryalahari

Verse 64 of the Soundarya Lahari praises Parāśakti’s tongue, saying it’s naturally red like a hibiscus flower. She always talks about Śiva’s greatness, making her tongue blush red like a flower when she mentions her husband. This idea suggests her tongue can feel emotions, like blushing. It’s believed that Sarasvatī, who is crystal-clear like Śiva, lives in Parāśakti’s tongue. When Parāśakti speaks, Sarasvatī’s complexion turns ruby red. The comparison to ruby is interesting because it reflects the colour of Parāśakti’s tongue. Shankaracharya chose this comparison to show how Sarasvatī’s clear complexion turns red because of Parāśakti’s tongue. This shows Parāśakti’s speech is vital in expressing divine truths and her devotion to Śiva. Shankaracharya’s metaphor helps us understand the connection between speech, goddesses, and holy love. #drbeenaunnikrishnan #beenaunnikrishnan #artist #creativestrategist #entrepreneur #spiritualtraveller #y64 #kankali #ktacedtrust #64yoginis #documentary #filmmaker #G100artleadershipandfilmswing #wicciartsleadershipcouncil #hinduism #shakthi #sakthi #coexistence #femininepower #ardhanaareeshwaara #shiva #srividhya #srividya #soundaryalahari

The 63rd verse of the Soundarya Lahari, tells a story about special birds called Cakoras. These birds usually eat by absorbing moonlight, which they turn into nectar. One day, they see the beautiful, moon-like smile of a divine woman, Parāśakti, and think it’s the moon. They eat the nectar from her smile and find it so delicious that regular moonlight doesn’t taste good anymore. This story is like a lesson in spirituality. It shows that when someone really focuses on the divine or something spiritual, they can experience something very special, like the birds did with the divine smile. This special experience can change how they see everything else and lead them to a deeper understanding and connection with the universe. #drbeenaunnikrishnan #beenaunnikrishnan #artist #creativestrategist #entrepreneur #spiritualtraveller #y64 #kankali #ktacedtrust #64yoginis #documentary #filmmaker #G100artleadershipandfilmswing #wicciartsleadershipcouncil #hinduism #shakthi #sakthi #coexistence #femininepower #ardhanaareeshwaara #shiva #srividhya #srividya #soundaryalahari

O Devi, adorned with radiant white teeth! I seek to find a comparison for your captivating red lips among common objects. I consider the coral creeper and the bimba fruit, yet the coral creeper lacks fruit for comparison. Though the bimba fruit reflects the hue of your lips, it lacks the innate redness. Would not the bimba fruit feel abashed when compared to your divine lips? Your parted lips, glowing with a dark red hue, always wear a smile for your devotees. Shankaracharya’s contemplation delves into finding parallels to the deep red shade of your lips. This poetic reflection marvels at the profound beauty of your form, transcending earthly comparisons. While the bimba fruit serves as a reflection, it pales in comparison to the natural radiance of your lips. This verse underscores the divine grace and unmatched beauty of Lalitambika, inviting devotees to contemplate her celestial presence with reverence and awe. #drbeenaunnikrishnan #beenaunnikrishnan #artist #creativestrategist #entrepreneur #spiritualtraveller #y64 #kankali #ktacedtrust #64yoginis #documentary #filmmaker #G100artleadershipandfilmswing #wicciartsleadershipcouncil #hinduism #shakthi #sakthi #coexistence #femininepower #ardhanaareeshwaara #shiva #srividhya #srividya #soundaryalahari

Oh, daughter of the Mountain King! Your visage, extending between ears and eyes, resembles the bow of Manmadha, enticing Kamadeva to arm his arrows. Who wouldn’t perceive the grace of the Love God’s flower bow in the arching ridges between your eyes and ears? Your sidelong glances, spanning these ridges towards your ears, evoke the image of drawing an arrow on the bowstring. Each glance of your eyes seems to string the arrow of love, creating an illusion that love’s arrows are aimed through your ears. This imagery vividly captures the mesmerizing effect of your gaze, akin to being struck by the arrows of passion. The comparison of your eyes to arrows emphasizes the potent impact of your beauty and charm, evoking feelings of love and desire in those who behold you. Thus, Sloka 58 celebrates the irresistible allure and captivating grace of the Goddess, whose mere glance ignites the flames of love in the hearts of admirers. Sloka 56 of the Soundarya Lahari poetically illustrates the awe-inspiring presence of the Goddess through symbolic imagery. The verse depicts the natural world’s response to the Goddess’s divine gaze. The black female fish in the stream, symbolic of creatures in the aquatic realm, are portrayed as constantly vigilant and hesitant to close their eyes in her presence. This fear stems from the belief that the Goddess’s long, watchful eyes, resembling theirs, might convey unfavourable messages about them to her. This metaphor highlights the omnipresence and all-encompassing nature of the Goddess’s perception, instilling reverence even in the smallest creatures. Furthermore, the sloka suggests the Goddess’s association with abundance and prosperity through the imagery of Goddess Lakshmi, who is said to dwell within blooming blue lilies. Her presence within these flowers is depicted as transient, entering them at nightfall and departing at dawn, symbolizing the cyclical nature of abundance and renewal under her divine influence. Overall, Sloka 56 evokes a sense of reverence and wonder towards the Goddess, portraying her as the ultimate arbiter of the natural world and the bestower of prosperity and blessings. #drbeenaunnikrishnan #beenaunnikrishnan #artist #creativestrategist #entrepreneur #spiritualtraveller #y64 #kankali #ktacedtrust #64yoginis #documentary #filmmaker #G100artleadershipandfilmswing #wicciartsleadershipcouncil #hinduism #shakthi #sakthi #coexistence #femininepower #ardhanaareeshwaara #shiva #srividhya #srividya #soundaryalahari

Sloka 55 of the Soundarya Lahari celebrates the divine power and omnipotence of the Goddess and elucidates the intricate dynamics between Shiva and Shakti, the cosmic principles of creation and destruction. Addressed as the daughter of the king of mountains, symbolizing her royal and divine lineage as Parvati, the Goddess’s significance as a powerful deity is emphasized. The sloka metaphorically describes the cyclical nature of creation and destruction, stating that the universe is brought into being and dissolved with the opening and closing of her eyes, subtly conveying the immense divine power wielded by the Goddess, or it can be interpreted as the sustenance of the universe relies on her steadfastness, for as long as she refrains from even a single wink, it remains intact. Additionally, it conveys the profound concept that creation, sustenance, and annihilation—the three main acts of Brahman—are executed by her and not by Shiva alone. Shiva, representing Brahman’s formless and attributeless aspect, remains as the Self within, while Shakti, representing the manifested aspect with attributes, carries out these cosmic actions on his behalf. This verse underscores the symbiotic relationship between Shiva and Shakti, where Shiva’s unique power is Goddess as the ultimate creator, sustainer, and destroyer of the cosmos, acting as the divine agent of Shiva’s will and reflecting his light through her dynamic manifestations. #drbeenaunnikrishnan #beenaunnikrishnan #artist #creativestrategist #entrepreneur #spiritualtraveller #y64 #kankali #ktacedtrust #64yoginis #documentary #filmmaker #G100artleadershipandfilmswing #wicciartsleadershipcouncil #hinduism #shakthi #sakthi #coexistence #femininepower #ardhanaareeshwaara #shiva #srividhya #srividya #soundaryalahari

In Sloka 54 of the Soundarya Lahari, Adi Shankaracharya beautifully depicts the divine attributes of the Goddess, subtly conveying the profound benefits of Kundalini meditation. The Goddess, with a heart owned by Lord Shiva, signifies her inseparable connection with the divine masculine energy. Brimming with compassion and mercy, her eyes serve as beacons of solace for her devotees, reflecting her celestial grace. Symbolized by the colours red, white, and black, her eyes represent the multifaceted nature of the divine, encompassing power, purity, and transcendence. Through metaphorical comparison to sacred rivers – Sonabhadra, Ganga, and Yamuna – the sloka emphasizes the Goddess’s purifying influence, equating her mere presence to cleansing sins. This imagery subtly alludes to the convergence of the three nadis – Ida, Pingala, and Sushumna – at the Ajna chakra, the third eye, in Kundalini meditation. As the confluence of these rivers purifies the soul, so does the Goddess, in her subtlest form as Kundalini, ascend through Sushumna Nadi to unite with her consort Shiva at Sahasrara. Ultimately, the sloka underscores the Goddess’s role in elevating her devotees to spiritual fulfilment and enlightenment through her divine grace and presence. #drbeenaunnikrishnan #beenaunnikrishnan #artist #creativestrategist #entrepreneur #spiritualtraveller #y64 #kankali #ktacedtrust #64yoginis #documentary #filmmaker #G100artleadershipandfilmswing #wicciartsleadershipcouncil #hinduism #shakthi #sakthi #coexistence #femininepower #ardhanaareeshwaara #shiva #srividhya #srividya #soundaryalahari

Sloka, 53 of the Soundarya Lahari, compares the goddess’s three eyes to eye shades, suggesting that they are adorned with colours symbolizing the three qualities of nature: sattva (purity), rajas (activity), and tamas (inertia). This imagery highlights the goddess’s beauty and grace, enhanced by these divine qualities. The goddess embodies the essence of the holy trinity—Vishnu (the preserver), Brahma (the creator), and Rudra (the destroyer)—as they merge with her during the final dissolution (deluge) of the universe. This metaphor implies that the goddess is the ultimate source of creation, preservation, and dissolution, transcending the individual deities of the trinity. #drbeenaunnikrishnan #beenaunnikrishnan #artist #creativestrategist #entrepreneur #spiritualtraveller #y64 #kankali #ktacedtrust #64yoginis #documentary #filmmaker #G100artleadershipandfilmswing #wicciartsleadershipcouncil #hinduism #shakthi #sakthi #coexistence #femininepower #ardhanaareeshwaara #shiva #srividhya #srividya #soundaryalahari
