Hi everyone! Today, I want to share a slice of honesty with you - life’s been serving up some pretty tart lemons lately, and I’ve been doing my best to make lemonade out of them. The scoop? I’m currently on the lookout for a new job. I’m aiming to jump back into my old career (I used to play with computers before I started playing with mud!) in project, marketing, and content management/coordination. But honestly, it’s been a bumpy road. Therefore, and due to urgency, I am also open to exploring any (full or part time) opportunities in other fields (ideally creative) that align with my knack for organization, proactive problem-solving, and people skills. I’ve been holding off on sharing this with you all because, well, it’s tough to admit that the basket of lemons is quite full and when your personal life needs redesigning. I also didn’t realize that the job market was this bad, when I started looking back in February! My love for ceramics is still burning strong. But for now, I might need to take a step back and focus on finding my next steps. If you happen to have any leads, advice, or connections that could point me in the right direction, I’d be incredibly grateful. The Lemonade Circle would like to thank the @uthealthsa Department of Pediatrics for sponsoring and hosting The Lemonade Circe's Second Annual STEM Leadership Summit on Saturday, May 18. We would also like to send a VERY special thank you to Dr. Krystal Robinson, Dr. Steven Seidner, and all the other amazing volunteers, students, and staff for organizing this PHENOMENAL, ENGAGING, INSPIRING, ONE-OF-A-KIND experience for our Lemonade Circle members. The feedback from the event was so motivating. According to our post survey, this one event inspired over 82% of our 🍋members to pursue a career in the medical field. It was exciting to see over 40 young women (98% African American) attend a sponsored STEM conference on a Saturday morning. Our 🍋girls were able to have an opportunity to experiment with hands-on experiences such as: succturing, conducting ultrasounds on themselves, mending bones( orthopedic medicine), learning about the importance of our internal organs like the liver and spine (anatomy) as well as your heart (pulmonology). These are the types of learning experiences that EXPAND access to resources and EMPOWER our members to see the power of EDUCATION. When life gives you lemons, what do you do with them? You can make lemonade or let them sit there to rot. This is my story. I entered into the world of natural living in a rather unconventional way, not by choice but by need to be employed! I had zero clue what essential oils were and my home was filled with every single cleaning product you could imagine. I used to get a massive headache and feel sick every Saturday afternoon after cleaning the house but I accepted that was just normal. My daughter was 18 months at the time and had terrible skin rashes and reactions regularly. They flared up, were angry, red and my poor baby girl was just miserable. We thought it was her skin reacting to a cold, an upset tummy but it just kept coming back; getting nastier each time. After visiting the doctor for the 1000 time, I was given cortisone cream to put on my baby. The rash cleared almost immediately and then quickly returned as soon as we finished the tube. I knew this wasn’t the answer; in my bones I knew that it was something else. So I began my journey researching and learning about natural products and the switches I could make in the things we used in the home, to help my little girl. I discovered how essential oils work synergistically with our bodies to help support a range of needs. For us, a little bottle of YarrowPOM cleared my girls rash overnight and the incredible thing is, it didn’t return. We swapped our home to natural products; room by room we removed the chemicals and watched how our lives changed in the process. We felt well, people began to comment on how nice it felt there and most importantly, my daughter’s skin irritations stopped. It wasn’t an upset tummy that caused the rash, it was the products we were using on and around her and this broke my heart. It was my fault. Why am I sharing this story? I don’t want anyone to feel that same guilt I felt, knowing we can make small changes to the products we have in our homes, to help ourselves and our little ones thrive. Do we make lemonade or let them just sit there?

Before there was @shotgunfriday4good I was a 22 year old kid who was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. That gave me the courage to leave New York in my 91 Cherokee with a cooler plugged into the lighter full of insulin. Thanks @brianconroy26 for being my rock during that time.
