🎉 Week in the Life 2024 🎉 for my next page I glued 2 5,5x8,25 photos back to back and added the top part of the @aliedwards @aliedwardsdesigninc 3x4 ‘days of the week’ card by stitching it on. For the front I chose photos of the two of us and added the ‘you+me’ vellum piece (I changed the color of the plus sign to have a matching one for each day). For the back I chose photos with some space to add a few plastic banners and a chipboard banner, for some reason most photos had space on the bottom which isn’t the best because my album is now thicker on one side 😬

Moments from the most enjoyable day teaching weaving at @southmiltonflowerfarm a couple of weeks ago ….yes it’s about learning a new craft and transforming from novice to weaver in a day! Yes it’s about creating a beautiful wall hanging for your home. Yet it’s also soooo much about all the magic moments along the way that makes the experience wonderful and that includes what it means for me too…the beautiful environment, the connections that people have when they come, getting busy, letting go into the creative process, talking and sharing not to mention laughing …I seriously haven’t laughed like that in a while …. the beauty of what everyone is producing, the camaraderie and the trust. Comments like ‘why haven’t I done this before?’ or ‘I haven’t done this since I was a child (make sure to check out the toe weaving 👌) I just love watching people coming out of and simply enjoying themselves ….oh and also good coffee, floral treats, and beautiful crockery from which to enjoy yummy food ☺️ Everyone and everything has a part and I am so grateful to Molly @southmiltonflowerfarm for the amazing and welcoming space she creates and all the wonderful women who came along 🙏
Weekend sewing project part 1 - blouse making. Thought I’d test my skills by following a pattern and sewing without a support group. So far so good. Attaching a collar was very fiddly. 🎉 Week in the Life 2024 🎉 every year I try to include the voices of my people by sending them some (not too serious) questions and adding their answers to my album. This year I used the 2x2’s page protector and cut off 1 column (I love the layered look it creates with the different widths of the pages). I created a 2x2 with the color combo of the day and the @aliedwards @aliedwardsdesigninc WITL digital stamp set to write down the questions and used the ‘selfie card pack’ for their (and my) answers (font is ‘stamping Nico’). The questions: - What is your favorite day of the week? - If you were a color, what color would you be? - What word or sentence you use all the time? - If you could go there right now, what country would you go to? - Who is your favorite villain? - If you had to choose one food to eat every day, what would it be? - What are you thinking right now? I would love to hear your answers! Let me know in the comments 😍 With 6 people and 1 question I had one pocket to fill, so I cut down the vellum pocket because I really liked the white on vellum and I wasn’t using the pocket anyway. I added the vellum heart on the back and filled the rest of the pockets with more photos.
Picked up this Neslein box the other day. The bottom two drawers were missing. Luckily these Neslein boxes are just enhanced and rebadged “Union” boxes, and I had a damaged Union box missing the door but not the drawers! I haven't really been posting much on here in a while. In big part it's been difficult for me to post art when the world is in such turmoil and people (I'm thinking especially of Palestine, but in so many places really) are suffering such horrendous, unthinkable, unbearable atrocities. However as an art therapist I also know the power of art to center and heal, to connect, and to transform. But I've honestly been at a loss. Yesterday I sat down for ten minutes and did these silly little sketches. Simple put, they brought me joy. 🎉 Week in the Life 2024 🎉 I’ve a cut a little strip from the @aliedwards @aliedwardsdesigninc 3x8 morning-afternoon-evening card to have all photo spots the same size and added photos of my meals (I know… not the healthiest week 😬). On the back I added a photo of the weather with the temperature stamped on vellum and stapled to the photo (I stapled them all on to then realise I still needed to punch the holes 😱 and of course the hole needed to go exactly where the staple was… found a way to fix it, embrace imperfection right?). It was so fun to document the weather like this because the difference between Bali and The Netherlands was so big even though it was raining in both places 🤣☔️😍

Beachcombing nowadays includes beach cleaning. Or at least should, and does for me. I've always been a beachcomber, from a very young age, collecting tiny fragments of the oceans gifts brought to shore on the tide. Looking down as you walk means you see some beautiful treasures. I once found a strange object that was later identified (by a museum, pre internet )as a fish swim bladder. It had pride of place in our childhood home museum. But now, tiny treasures from the ocean include plastics seen here with natural bone & shell pieces that jostle for room on tidelines across the world . I'm going to try melding these pieces into something. I'm seeing tiny rivets & metal combined with these. We'll see. Then maybe a beachcombing workshop could be born! . . The feather work continues! Photo 1 - I did more work to better define the general details of the feather. Photo 2 - It was time to free the feather from the block. The band saw made it a quick job. I cut half a millimetre away from the feather. Photo 3 - The half millimetre of the block broke away easily from the feather as it was glued together with only six small blobs of glue. Video - Showing the separated feather. Now I have to refine the details of the feather to my satisfaction. I’m really enjoying getting back to this type of work. Updating my #Etsyshop later this afternoon with loads of new goodies and some old favorites. We have been waiting for the rain to stop so we can finally pour the foundation on Jim’s workshop and really begin to turn our garage into a well functioning #potterystudio. It’s def been challenging these last few months working along side all the insanity. We STILL have a long way to go but I know in the end it will all be sooo worth it. 🎉 Week in the Life 2024 🎉 the next page I repeated for each day is a 3x4’s page protector 😍 on the front I added the vellum Polaroid frame with the day of the week stamped on it and embossed with gold embossing powder, I’ve cut the 4x6 high/low card to 3x4, added one high and one low (using transparent sticker paper) and added gold vinyl arrows (from the icons stamp set cut with my silhouette) and 2 photos with a white border. On the back I added more photos and I repeated the angled label on one of the cards (you can find a layered template on the @aliedwards @aliedwardsdesigninc blog)

First leaf buds on my Little Lime hydrangeas means it's time for it's spring pruning. This variety flowers on new growth so I cut it back quite severely each spring. Different varieties flower differently so it's important to know what you've got and when to prune or you'll get no flowers! These flowers change color all season; I cut many of them to dry for winter bouquets; I leave some behind to dry on the plant for some winter interest.
