This super moon took me completely by surprise as we set up camp on the slopes of Lofftwen. Couldnāt work out why there appeared to be city lights in the distance. Then the tip of the moon suddenly broke the horizon. Luckily I had my camera with me but I only just caught it in time as it was rising so fast.
I love a good flyby during my morning coffee sitting out the back of the Longhouse. I was also visited by pied flycatcher, nuthatch, mistle thrush, coaltit and swallow accompanied by a morning chorus of willow warbler, wren, chaffinch, robin, blackbird, green and great spotted woodpecker and a bubbling stream. The rain in Wales is unavoidable, sometimes you just have to put your wellies on, a waterproof coat and embrace it. Yesterday was one of those days but we were lucky to be very well sheltered by the imposing trees at @goldengrovegelliaur. Also known as Gelli Aur, this family friendly estate is a 10 minute drive from @melintregibbnb and @tregibmillcottage and features one of the finest and most interesting #Arboretums in the UK. But there is no doubt that children and adults alike will agree that the newly installed wooden play park is itās best feature. Built within the shade of an enormous lime tree, the play park is fully visible from theĀ Glasshouse Cafe which serves homemade light lunches and freshly baked cakes. On Wednesdays and Fridays they also offer an Autumn Lunches menu which features some hearty and wholesome meals, just what you need this time of year. The Deer Park is currently closed to the public; however, you will get a very charming view from the cafe terrace and a closer view as you take a walk on one of their many nature trails. Make the most of your time here and take the longest trail deep into the Quarry Garden and West Wood. This managed semi wilderness is abundant with rare flora and fauna. There is so much to explore here that the whole family and your four legged friends will be sure to enjoy. Entry is free but there is a parking charge which can be exchanged for a hot drink in the cafe. Entry to the Arboretum is Ā£4 per adult and Ā£2 per child.

Magnificent animals whoās link to the estate dates back as far as 920. Did you know there are only around a thousand breeding females left in the World? Itās an honour to be in their presence. While we think all the cattle are truly beautiful, what makes the āperfectā white cattle lies in their āpointsā. According to the National Trust an ideal White Cattle would be all white with coloured points, the points being the nose, ears, hooves and the tip on each horn. These points are usually black however they have been known to be red too. If you want to be mesmerised by these beautiful cattle visit Dinefwr Park and Castle. Itās a short walk over the iconic Llandeilo Bridge, turn left through the magical Castle Woods, from there you can either walk down to Llandyfeisant Church and then up to the ruins of Dinefwr Castle or continue through the woods where you will eventually be met by the impressive Newton House. Some exciting news recently announced is that Newton House has re-opened for visitors, weekends only between 11am and 4pm. It is advisable to book.
