Faith’s story in her words: “My youngest sister, Joy, passed away in 2018 at 21 years old from a congenital heart condition. She had 4 open heart surgeries and 18 heart procedures over the course of her life, but her death was sudden and unexpected. She was in college full time and was full of so much energy and life. You would never know that anything was wrong with her because from the outside she looked so healthy. One day she just dropped in the kitchen from a sudden stroke, and died on life support just days later. 💔 We know that Joy had a relationship with Jesus and that she’s wrapped in his loving arms right now. That has brought our family so much comfort and hope. Here's a little Bank Holiday Treat for you 😍 Atticus and Bouf. What a journey this one was! It's always so lovely to receive a commission, and even more special when it's a portrait that holds a lot of meaning. If you've been following the updates, you'll know a little more than I'll add here, suffice to say that this boy and his bear are very special indeed. The 'fur' on Bouf isn't really fur as I'm used to, so finding a strategy to render it to look realistic took a hot minute! Because it is wool, it has blunt ends and it clumps strangely. To work my way through the shapes to find the 3Dness of him, I started as usual by finding the shadow shapes, and then went for the light strands next. Then I filled in between with different shapes and more strands until it started to look like this shaggy, woolly Bouf. The bandage threads are indented into the surface, and it was nice to finish with something bright and relatively easy after all that fluff😄 I hope you like the completed portrait. He's all the way in the USA now. I am forever grateful to have been given the honour of creating his portrait, and I hope to do more portraits in future. One of the best things about being an artist is commemorating relationships in a way that can't be replicated- in the same way these bonds can't be replicated. Rio was a dear friend to his owner. Here is a long overdue portrait of @goodlovebakery’s sweet handsome Rocky. I never got to meet him but he sounds like an unforgettable force of mischief and tenacity and love. He had this gorgeous red mane that amplified so much light in all the photos of him so it was only fitting to showcase his pretty boy hair for his picture. I am honored to paint a memorial portrait of him for my dear friend, and I was able to make a little Rocky for her child who loved him too. I have been liking gouache a lot more lately and have been wanting to try some higher quality paints. ✨New logo reveal! ✨ This is about 8 years in the making, tbh. When I first opened my Etsy shop and started this instagram page, I didn’t have a long term plan…I just took a picture of a watercolor drawing I had done of myself, cropped it, and used it as my logo.
