Update: with the Frankie Fidler commitment being a little under 12 hours away I figured I’d provide an update on what we know before tomorrow’s commitment. I was waiting to post today hoping for a crystal ball prediction but we have yet to get one so I’m not to sure if we are gonna get a one. In 37 minutes he totaled 15 points, a career high 17 rebounds with 7 of them being offensive rebounds, and shot 6/13 from the field on his senior night. Hall lead the team in rebounds and was the second leading scorer behind Tyson Walker and was a big reason MSU was able to pull away with the win. Michigan State despite the tough effort falls short against Purdue and drops their 3rd straight game. Michigan State wasn’t obviously expected to win this one but came out hot with a lead but that eventually went away late in the first half and MSU could never get over the hump and tie it or take the lead. Against a team like Purdue there are certain things you have to do and need to happen in order to pull off and upset especially at Mackey. MSU did some of those things and also didn’t do a couple that proved to be the difference in this one. Offensively MSU shot it well from 3 going 9/21 but what killed them was 25/64 from the field and only 20 points in the paint. MSU surprisingly won the rebounding battle both on the offensive and defensive end and took good care of the ball onto 7 turnovers. What killed MSU was Purdues 10/20 from 3 and allowing Smith and Loyer to combine for 38 points and 8 of 10 from 3. Can’t win a lot of games when those two play like that and Edey does his thing. I’d say a best case scenario 7 seed if MSU grabs 3-4 wins between the final 3 games and the BTT tournament and a worst case scenario 11 seed and probably a last 4 in play in game if they continue to struggle late and only grab 1 or 0 more wins to end the year. Realistically I think we should win at least 2 more games in the final 3 and BTT putting us at and 8 or 9 seed if we grab any more than 2 wins I think we would land a 7 seed.
