Congratulations, Korey! Korey: "For the parent or guardian reading my success story. Have you thought about vision therapy for yourself? I didn't, but now I try to tell everyone I can. I had a concussion a few years back and my healthcare provider never mentioned I should have my vision checked. I thought the issues I had came with age and my work and lifestyle. The issues I had were transposing letters and numbers, flashing lights, and depth perception. I love reading but it was becoming a little too tiring to enjoy a story when I had to re-read sentences. Issues with my depth perception made me think I was clumsy at first but then it became a concern while I was driving. I had the same feeling with flashing lights. I thought I could close my eyes and it would pass but it's different when there's an accident and you are next to the emergency vehicle with the flashing light flooding your car making you nauseous and anxious. I was fortunate to be referred to inSIGHT Vision Performance Center to correct my vision. I admit at first I felt a little silly doing the exercises but they worked! I learned that vision therapy is more than exercising my eyes but honestly changing how you perceive and look at the world. I had incorrectly compensated for trying to see instead of actually making full use of vision and my mind. I had to unlearn things like crossing your eyes will stick to crossing my eyes to improve my vision. My vision improved and so did my self-confidence (I know that sounds hokey but trust me!). I say my eyes feel young and I have returned to doing the things I love. Now I take care of my eyes like I do my back, feet and everything else that needs care. I hope you read this while you're waiting for your little one in their session and think of what vision therapy could do for you, your friends, family, coworkers, and more adults in your life." It was hard to balance. I fell out of my chair a lot. My favorite thing about therapy was getting to do fun things like the blocks and the card games. Cherise and Kelsey made the games fun. After vision therapy everything is easier. Reading is really fun and it's not so tiring. School is easier too."
