Mellow, a wine and dining room, has just opened in Seventeen Mall in Petaling Jaya, and what this space delivers to the neighbourhood is a place to unwind over a glass and decent food. The menu takes inspirations from across the globe, mainly made for sharing, perfect for grazing. We start with a Fresh Flatbread with Zaatar, made with a 48 hrs fermentation Neapolitan dough, chewy and quite moreish. The Crisp Eggplant with fish-fragrant sauce is Chinese inspired, piquant with Szechuan peppers. A unique morsel was the Panipuri with abalone ceviche, an eclectic take on Indian and South American, a must try. The colourful Milkfish with wakame cured sashimi, coconut milk, basil oil and pickled grapes, with dill permeating. The Ox Tongue braised in chinese master stock, served with a raspberry capers sauce was a punch of flavours and tender. The Iberico Pork Collar with pesto diavola, confit garlic and pickles, cooked well and makes a great meat dish. We throughly enjoyed having the Charred Market Vegetables, a trio of zucchini, butternut squash and baby corn with brown butter, not often seen as a standalone dish. Now to the wines… The Rías Baixas Albariño Marieta was a bright yellow with a fruity aroma, pleasant on the palate and somewhat rounded and full bodied. The Artuke 2022, made with Tempranillo and Viura grapes, was fruity and medium bodied, with accents of blueberries and dark berries. The Clot de L’Origine Le Trouble Fait 2020, a biodynamic orange wine using muscat grapes, medium bodied and funky, yet chalky with some minerality.
