Murrayfield Stadium Opened 1925 Capacity 67,144 The home of the Scotland national rugby union team since it opened. The largest stadium in Scotland, it has been used for rugby league and football matches on occasion but primarily hosts rugby union games. Intriguingly, the ground was also a home of the Scottish Claymores, an American football team in NFL Europe in the 90s. Within 10 years of their founding, the team ceased to exist. NFL Europe didn't last very long either. The ground has also hosted 13 matches between the 1991, 1999, and 2007 rugby world cups, Scotland played in all but one of those matches. In 1995, Murrayfield, like most big Scottish stadium, underwent a large-scale renovation that completely transformed the ground into an all-seater stadium. On top of the Scottish national team, it also hosts matches for Edinburgh Rugby, one of two United Rugby Championship teams in Scotland. Since 2018, Edinburgh Rugby has only played some matches here rather than all of them as they couldn't consistently sell out such a large venue. Edinburgh Rugby finished runners-up in the 2009 United Rugby Championship and the 2015 European Rugby Challenge Cup. Scotland has won the Six Nations Championship 14 times, although not since 2000, when the sixth nation, Italy, joined the competition. Their best performance at a Rugby World Cup was in 1991, when they finished 4th. Murrayfield is one of many iconic stadiums in Scotland. 🏟️O antigo Vicente Calderón🏟️ O antigo estádio do Atlético de Madri, Vicente Calderón, ficava localizado no meio do distrito de Arganzuela, em um ponto central da capital espanhola. Ele parte da paisagem que tem, de um lado, uma vizinhança residencial de prédios baixos, e, de outro, a M30, uma rodovia, onde passa um viaduto por debaixo da arquibancada. As peculiaridades do estádio não param por aí. Ao redor de metade do estádio - exceção feita à área do viaduto e aos portões principais - havia salas comerciais que davam espaço a todo tipo de negócio, como imobiliária e policlínica. It was built with a capacity of 46,788 for the Colombian World Cup bid in 1986. The stadium was inaugurated that year with a game between Uruguay and Junior, which the Uruguayans won 2–1. It is the largest stadium in Colombia, after the Estadio Deportivo Cali's renovation. The first official name of the stadium was Estadio Metropolitano, which was changed around 1991 in order to honor the Colombian footballer Roberto Meléndez. This is the official stadium for the national football team of Colombia. The construction of Estadio Metropolitano lasted six years, after which a grand opening was held on May 11, 1986 with a folk show in which 5,000 artists, an awards ceremony for VIPs Sport Colombia, a giant ball that left 200 white doves and the holding of an international friendly match. This stadium was one of the venues where Colombian National Games in 1992 were contested. Hosted the 2001 Copa América including the opening ceremony with a colourful parade and a show dance. The venue held six matches in Group A which included the national teams of Colombia, Venezuela, Chile and Ecuador, between July 11 and 17. Was the venue where Colombia national team played the qualification matches for World Cups in Italy (1990), United States (1994), France (1998) and Germany (2006). For the first three, Colombia qualified for the final tournament after 28 years of absence. It is built on the site of the former Lansdowne Road Stadium, which was demolished in 2007, and replaced it as home to its chief tenants: the Irish rugby union team and the Republic of Ireland football team. The decision to redevelop the stadium came after plans for both Stadium Ireland and Eircom Park fell through. Aviva Group Ireland signed a 10-year deal for the naming rights in 2009, and subsequently extended the arrangement until 2025. The stadium, located beside Lansdowne Road railway station, officially opened on 14 May 2010. The stadium is Ireland's first, and only, UEFA Category 4 Stadium and in 2011, it hosted the Europa League final. It also hosted the inaugural Nations Cup, as well as the regular home fixtures of the national rugby team, national football team and some home fixtures for Leinster Rugby from August 2010 onwards. Unlike its predecessor, which was solely owned by the Irish Rugby Football Union (IRFU), the current stadium is controlled by the IRFU and the Football Association of Ireland (FAI) through a 50:50 joint venture known as the Lansdowne Road Stadium Development Company (LRSDC). This is NOT a football stadium, it‘s Croke Park in Dublin, Ireland. With a capacity for 82,300 people it is the fifth largest stadium in Europe and used only for Gaelic sports like Hurling and Gaelic football. The stadium has been built at exactly this spot in 1884 (!!!). An amazing place to be, full of history and concrete. We had a „once-in-a-lifetime“ experience in Dublin last year when we got the chance to buy tickets half an hour before kick-off to watch the All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship final 2023, somehow comparable to the NFL Superbowl in American football. Incredible experience in Dublin, fascinating sport and great atmosphere. Go to see a Hurling match whenever you can!
