The Quarry House Popped into the quarry house recently to sample their stout. This boozer ticked all the right box’s from the get go. This establishment can be found in Ballygall. A building you could easily pass and mistake it for a hotel or hospital. The boozer also has a large beer garden to the side for punters during the summer months along with a number of food trucks in the car park serving grub. They advertise to have bingo every Friday and live music Saturday and Sundays. A smashing pint and one that I highly recommend and will be back to sample again. ⭐️ Temperature - Spot on which really helped the flavour of the pint. ⭐️ Price - A pint of stout was ringing in at €5.60 which is decent for this day and age. ⭐️ Atmosphere - Plenty of punters inside and a real buzz about it when I dropped in and also no shortage of people in the beer garden. ⭐️ No complaints at all on staff or venue. Raheny United Club Bar Popped into Raheny United Club recently to sample their stout. Situated in Raheny a couple of doors up from the local cop shop it’s one well known within the community for its stout. This venue had been recommended previously on multiple occasions. Unfortunately it seems by the time I got around to sampling some of the regulars had told me the stout standard has dropped due to the exit of experienced bar staff recently. Similar to most of the other clubs I have sampled it can really vary on the day in question depending on a number of things. When I ordered the stout it was the first time I had ever seen this done in ireland. The young staff member actually left the Guinness pouring upright on the tray under the tap. Not held at 45 degree angle which as you can imagine killed taste. Of the two pints ordered one was completely full of bubbles due to the pour. Something you expect to see in the UK or USA not Dublin in 2024. In fairness the staff member acknowledged it was a bad pint and apologised. On a more positive note to the venue a pint of stout ringing in at a cheap €5.50 and potential of room to improve. ⭐️ Temperature - No issues at all on temperature of stout. ⭐️ Price - The price of a pint of stout rang in at €5.50 which is decent for that area in this day and age. ⭐️ Atmosphere - Not a lot going on inside the venue. Like most clubs a few local punters and a bit of background music on when I dropped in. ⭐️ No complaints on venue. Only complaint on staff is the pour the Guinness was done at which is every stout drinkers worst nightmare. Ye Olde Boot Inn . The Boot Inn closed it's doors for the final time after over 430 years. Located on the Old Naul Road between the two runways at Dublin Airport it was a popular spot where you could view the planes at the airport before the first of the new runways was built. Popped into fowlers bar in Malahide recently to sample the stout. The boozer is on the main little strip of Malahide directly across from the neighbouring gibneys bar. The boozer is separated into a small bar and a large lounge. When I popped in to sample there was a handful of people inside the bar but one thing that stood out was the small number of them drinking the stout. Which is strange to see in a bar in this day and age compared to a lounge. Sports were shown inside the bar and there was even a tiny little snug for 3/4 punters to sit in at the end of the bar. Overall an ok pint of stout but overall a boozer I won’t be rushing back to. The pint came out looking ok at first and settled well. One thing I will flag is that after the first pint the rest took a turn for the worst in relation to quality. In order to keep consistency we will only review the first pint below like always. ⭐️ Temperature - The temperature was a little bit off in my opinion which always impacts the quality of the stout. ⭐️ Price - The pint of stout rang in at €6.10 which is to be expected for Malahide Main Street. ⭐️ Atmosphere - A strange buzz inside the bar one that I haven’t seen anywhere else for a while. Very quiet with minimal atmosphere going on. ⭐️ No complaints on the staff or venue. Horse and Hound - Lounge Popped into Horse and Hound recently to sample their stout. Situated in Harmonstown on Dublins northside this was a fine boozer and the stout had very little wrong with it. The type of boozer you go in for one and stay for 10. Situated into a lounge and a tiny little bar the boozer has a fine heated smoking area also. The boozer has a raised area with more seating and a a dart board for punters to have a game. Overall a smashing pub with great staff and spotless clean inside and out. Very welcoming and a stout I would definitely return for or recommend. ⭐️ Temperature - absolutely spot on in regards to temperature. ⭐️ Price - The price of a pint of stout in the lounge was ringing in at €5.90 which is actually below boozers in the area. The International Bar Popped into the International Bar on Wicklow Street to sample their stout. After a bad run of pints in recent boozers it didn’t get much better on the day I popped into here. The boozer is situated on the corner and might be known by some for its comedy club upstairs. On the ground floor there’s a small number of seats and it was filled with tourists. The bar is over 200 years old and it certainly looked it inside. Overall not a great pint of stout at all but another one off the to do list. In relation to presentation it came out with a head a little too big. If you were to judge off first looks it looked ok but fell apart very very fast. Have you sampled this bar before ? O’Neills of Suffolk Street Popped into O’Neills on Suffolk Street recently to sample their stout. The venue is spread over a number of floors and bars. It even boasts a rooftop beer garden. The inside of the venue is really nice and that good authentic bar feel to it. I’ve been to this boozer a couple of times before and the stout was a lot better. Unfortunately on the day in question is was nowhere near decent. The pints were left way too long before being topped up and the temperature was even miles off. Almost felt like it was room temperature the stout after a couple of minutes. The glass had stains on it from either previously been used to serve milk or be washed with food utensils. The pint almost tasted like there was a fizz element to it and also had a bad aftertaste potentially from cleaner in the lines. Overall not a pub I would be rushing back to for a stout. ⭐️ Temperature - The pint was a million miles off the desired temperature. ⭐️ Price - A pint of stout was ringing in at €6.60 ⭐️ Atmosphere - The venue has live music 7 nights a week and is usually full of punters every day of the week. ⭐️ Staff not very welcoming or no pride and passion in the workplace serving the stout. Sinnots Bar - South King Street Popped into Sinnots Bar to sample their pint of stout. Situated just beside St. Stephen’s Green shopping centre. Known to most people as a rugby and sports boozer it’s a lot bigger than you would expect from looking at the outside. The boozers current location opened back up in 1989. A large bar can be found in the middle the downstairs level. The bar itself was actually a church altar. The marble and pine wood were taken from Merrion Street Church. The pint was presented with nice head and a lot of the box’s you look for including the tulip glass. Unfortunately food stains visible on the glass which takes away from the presentation. ⭐️ Temperature - Middle of the road. No complaints on the temperature of stout. Served at the desired degrees. ⭐️ Price - The price of a pint of stout here rang in at €6.90. ⭐️ Atmosphere - Plenty of tourists having food and a drink. Not many stout drinkers visible when I popped in. ⭐️ No complaints on venue or staff. Bruxelles - Bar Popped into Bruxelles Bar recently to sample their stout. Situated just off Grafton street it was my first time inside the doors of this boozer. They advertise themself as a cosmopolitan pub with three floors and bars of music with food. Established in 1886 the bar still holds much of its authentic feel with plenty to look at inside the doors. From 1886 to 1973 the boozer was known as The Grafton Mooney. It was part of the Mooney chain of Victorian pubs and one of the first of its kind in Dublin. Well known musicians such as thin lizzy once drank inside its doors. It was one of these boozers before I was inside the doors I presumed it was going to be a bad or bang average pint. I couldn’t of been anymore wrong and was completely surprised at the standard of stout served and everything else about the venue. ⭐️ Temperature - No major complaints it was fine a small bit colder would have been no harm. ⭐️ Price - A pint of stout rang in at €6.70. Which to be honest was below what I expected for Grafton street or as close as you can get to it. ⭐️ Atmosphere - the boozer was empty when I popped in and was the first pint of stout of the day and only punter inside. Proof once again a pub doesn’t need to be rammed with Guinness drinkers to serve decent stout. ⭐️ No complaints at all on staff or venue. Staff very welcoming and venue interior very nice. Bowes Bar - Fleet Street Popped into Bowes Bar recently to sample their stout. The boozer is hard to miss with the old style clock above the door. Great to also see the new beer mats tailored for the premises themselves. The boozer is one of the most known and recommended for pints of stout in the capital. This boozer is most likely going to appear in the top 5/10 pubs for Guinness in Dublin if you were to go according to Google search. In my opinion it is the best out of the bunch you see recommended online time and time again. There is plenty of other decent stout served outside of these lists that all copy and use the same boozers. I have had the stout here many times before but never reviewed it because of similar reasons to the gravediggers etc. On the day in question the pint was decent but not the best or the worst I’ve had from inside the boozer. Established in 1880 the premises have had plenty of time to perfect the stout. Any time I dropped in you rarely see a table without a pint of stout. A very small and cozy old school boozer that’s filled with history. For sure a pub to drop into if you’re over for a weekend or in town for a drink. ⭐️ Temperature - Always a great pint in relation to temperature in bowes. ⭐️ Price - The price of a pint of stout rang in at €6.70. Standard for Dublin City centre in 2024. ⭐️ Atmosphere - A real old school boozer with plenty of people immersed in conversation and enjoying the stout. ⭐️ Never any complaints on staff or venue always very welcoming.
