Camberley round 2 race report... Day started ofc relatively wet, having wets on for practice and heat 1. Heat 1: Starting P9, I made up about 5 places off the start. However I tried another obertake but didn't commit enough, causing me to spin and drop back down to P9. Heat 2: Started P3, made a move at the start and got second, then cleared off and finished 2nd. Heat 3: Started P6 in this hear, struggled to get temperature as the pressure were to high so I fell down to P7. Final: Started P7, pressures were good but I made a few mistakes and overheated the tyres, managed to come back to P5 after a little scrap with @charlie_longman_racing and @harvey_murden. I also managed to only be 0.010 off fastest lap of the race which isn't too shabby Overall a decent result, a lot more improving to do but it's good to see I'm getting there. A good race was had by all @daytonamsport last night with a few friends. It was great to see Cal and some of the TRX guys. My race report. P4⬆️P1 Quali was a bit slow for me ended up P4. In the race I lost a place off the start! But I dug in and pulled it back while others were having a fight, and overtook to take P1 then floored it. Camberley round 1 race report... Heat 1: P1️⃣1️⃣ - P7️⃣. I had a clean start and maintained good pace throughout. Not much else happened in this heat. Heat 2: P5️⃣ - P9️⃣. The heavens opened before this heat, it was my first time on wets in avout 1 and a half years, so i had very little knowledge on how to drive in the wet. I should've started 5th but someone spun on the formation lap and didn't hold their brakes, causing them to crash into me. I started towards the back of the grid and made some good moves to climb back up the order, however I also got a dropnose in this heat. Heat 3: P2️⃣ - P6️⃣. The track dried up but we were still on wets, i had the pressures wrong so my tyres were overheating and I had no pace in general. Final: P6️⃣ - P5️⃣. Back on slicks in the final. The low sunlight meant a dip in the track became invisible so I hit it twice and made a few mistakes, though I still made some good overtakes and a bit of defense. Overall a really good day for me. This was my first race off novice plates and I'm P6 in thr championship after the first round. Onwards and upwards to round 2. • CLUB100 RD1 • @ryehousekarting My first competitive experience in the club100 karts and at a new track learning the lines both dry and wet while competing for positions. After improving my lap times throughout practice and qualifying on a dry track, i went out for the pre final on a very wet track and had to push for positions while learning new lines, i was spun out by contact on the first lap and set back to last on the grid but managed to gain back six positions leaving me in 24th. The track had dried out for the final but after being spun out by contact again on the first lap i was set back to last and finished in 24th. First time back since November, i was on the pace aswell. It was fun to be on track with @tgxadi @charlie_longman_racing @hazza9360 @jenson_h_karting and anyone else who I may have missed. Whilton Mill "0" plate race report... Practice: track was very greasy, found myself off the track a few times but just finding the grip. Quali: P1, track was drying and was quite inconsistent but I managed to find the grip and put a lap together. Pre final: P1 - P1. Started pole but P5 on track because the junior light B pre final was ahead of us on track. They crashed at the start and I was a passenger In it but I recovered back up to P1 Final: P1 - P2. Got a good start and avoided someone spinning infront of me, I was able to manage the race quite well considering I had the junior lights battling infront of me, unfortunately on the kart corner I got picked off by another junior. Overall it was a good day, it was great seeing @riceboi_racer, @thomaswmerritt_racing, @motorsport_merritt, @flyingfinn_49 and everyone else. It was also nice seeing @globalkartingleague_uk again and seeing some new faces there. TKZ / GKL 2023 national photodump Round 1: Back racing at shennington, however the only thing I won that day was a trip to the hospital after I proceeded to eat tarmac. Still though the support from the whole community showed from that day and everyone helped me to get racing again and I couldn't be more thankful. Round 2: After coming back from my crash I showed really strong pace and won the final on track but got a 1 lap penalty, had some fantastic racing and it was great to be back out. Round 3: Had a shocking day until the final where I made up 6 places to finish P2, in horrible conditions too. It's some of the best racing I've ever had and what a comm we have, there's so much respect on and off the track which is really not that common anymore. Roy Mortara race report... The day didn't start off well with the clutch drum teeth being completely rounded off, meaning I had to do an emergency practice and I missed out on quali. Heat 1: P1️⃣4️⃣ - P1️⃣0️⃣ (P6️⃣ before drop nose). I had a really really clean start and kept pushing forward, the pace was strong too. Heat 2: P1️⃣0️⃣ - P4️⃣. Another really clean start, even making it up to P2 at one point but the faster guys went through. Also I picked up places from other people's penalties. Final: P4️⃣ - DNF. I had another really clean start and I had decent pace, I had backed off near the end becuase my neck was falling off, but with about 1 minute left on the clock the right side of the axle snapped off. I was on for a top 6 finish and top novice but unfortunately that didn't happen. Well done to @charlie_longman_racing who did get top novice and @dani.elkarts for runner up. Well done @luke_broadbent_racing for winning aswell. Thank you to my dad aswell for the help 🙏 Also thanks to @tgxadi and @archie_elliott54 who came down to support me, its massively appreciated. What it could've been... First, I just wanna say a huge thankful for the very nice welcome back from everyone from all the @globalkartingleague_uk team, drivers, parents and @rsmedley73. It was such a pleasure to be back :) Practice: This session was quite damp but quickly drying. I found myself P5. Qualifying: Found loads of pace in this session and put it a respectable P2 on the grid Pre final: maintained P2 off the line and had a great battle with @salvadoreastracing and @flyingfinn_49. I maintained my P2 Final: In the junior lights final it had rained, meaning we were back on a greasy track. I had a decent start and maintained P2, while finn got up into the lead. I made a mistake and went wide, in which then I made the mistake of not going back on thr track where I came off, instead I took a different layout since I thought the kart had died, but it obviously hadn't. I waited for P1 to go back through and intentionally left a bigger gap then there was when I went off. I then pushed as hard as I could, made a mega overtake for first, I won the final on track but unfortunately I ended up with a 1 lap penalty, putting me dead last. Obviously this was very unfortunate but rules are rules, I'll come back stronger. Mega well done to @flyingfinn_49 for his second win in a row.
