So in line with my current military watch phase, I purchased this Citizen Promaster NY0040. It was very beat up as you can see here. The PO attempted to relume it and did a piss poor job, even leaving a big blob of lume at the 1:00 index. The 6:00 index meanwhile was missing a corner. But I got it at an almost throwaway price so I couldnt pass it up. Movement was great and the bezel was replaced with a later model NY2300. So after a week at my local watchmaker it finally arrived and does +9/sd now. I had the movement cleaned and serviced, dial brought back to its original state, and a light buff to clean it out. So here it is beside the CWC Royal Navy diver.Its a great piece and I much prefer it to its 7002 or SKX Seiko counterparts.As far as I’ve read, it was the watch of choice of the Italian Marines/Navy in the 90s/00s and some other espionage/military organizations.Feel free to share your Citizens here as well! My journey of choosing between the Rolex Explorer e 14270 and the Explorer II 16570 polar continues. Today I have chosen what is commonly referred to as the Explorer I, this 1997 model I am really enjoying on my wrist. I had the more recent 124270 but I was not satisfied with it, perhaps because of the proportions or more simply because it was too ‘modern’, this one on the other hand I find much more appropriate on my wrist and also a little less flashy, therefore more suitable for me. At this point I have to say that if I had to choose between the Polar and the 124270 I would have opted for the first one, but in this case I am in great distress. But what if I sold both and just kept my GMT Pepsi that always wins over everyone? Lot 2 The 4-liner Cosmograph 16520 by Rolex The present example, bearing an L serial number, was produced circa 1989 and is one of the rare and highly sought-after early models of the Zenith Daytona. The initial production of the "L" series is characterised by a 4-Liner dial with an MK I 200 units per hour bezel insert, followed by a brief run of MK II bezels, including the present example, which has undergone modifications to the bezel, including the addition of a scale for 400, 250 and 225 indications, and the relocation of "units per hour" to the 1 o'clock position. The inclusion of an inverted 6 on the 12-hour register serves to enhance the appeal of this remarkably well-preserved example, rendering it one of the most sought-after combinations within the series. The dial configuration was produced for a brief period and installed on a limited number of early L serial 16520 Daytonas, rendering it a highly sought-after model. The lettering "Officially Certified" is absent from the dial, a feature that distinguishes this dial from the first design.
