Things we see whilst woodlarking. Round Mouthed snail, Pomatias Elegan. These are quite common around here, they love the chalky areas in the woodlands. They have a little trap door on them that they can close if you disturb them, also helps to keep in moisture when it's too hot. #roundmouthedsnail #pomatiaselegans #snail #woodland #trees #treescape #forest #nature #paganlife #woodlarker #woodlarking #woodlarkers #woodlarkingfinds

A small kid was trailing way behind his family as I passed them in the woods this morning. He looked at me and then at the bit of wood I was carrying and said in an excited voice "nice choice of stick!" #woodlarking #woodlarker #woodlarkers #woodlarkingtribe #findyourtribe #stick #woodland #forest #treelover #treehugger #woodlandfinds #woodlarkingfinds

There's a new post over on our Woodlarking Blog. We've sat on this story for a bit, but now we've gathered ourselves and here's our tale of a sighting of Will O' the Wisp from a February night on a Hampshire holloway... "One night, we saw a weird, glowing light in the forest." https://www.woodlarking.co.uk/post/a-sighting-of-will-o-the-wisp #willothewisp #woodland #forest #woodlarking #woodlarkers #woodlarker #nature #weird #weirdnature #paranormal #pagan #paganlife #witchcraft #weirdlight #strange #strangelight #eerie #eeriewoodlands #eerieforest #truestory #truestories

"Woodlarking", to wander in the woods and forage for useful things in Witchcraft. I love wandering in the woods at this time of year when everything starts to green up and flower, it's called "quickening" around here in Hampshire. The rush of energy that permeates everything and brings back life. Stop and stand with your back against a big tree, you can feel the spirit of the land awaken. It's also one of my favourite times for foraging and searching out materials for crafting things. Wandering along, everything seems to have a story to tell, familiar medicinal plants, flowers and trees wake up, leaves start to unfurl from buds and the birds sing their seasonal song. It helps me feel a real spiritual connection with the woods and know my place and feel grounded during these Spring months. #woodlarker #woodlarking #woodlarkers #spring #springtime #woodland #forest #forage #foraging #awakening #quickening #nature #natureblog #natureblogger #pagan #paganblog #paganblogger #witch #witchcraft #witchblog #witchcraftblog #oldways #oldwaysblog #oldwaysblogger #followingtheoldways #naturalliving

April 15th is the start of the Willow Celtic tree month🙂 If you knock on a willow tree, it is said to send away bad luck and that's where the custom of 'touch wood' or 'knock on wood' originated. European people also believed the wind in the willow leaves were elves who whispered and talked among themselves as people were passing underneath. This whole touching or knocking on wood stems from the belief that all trees have a spirit and you're appeasing them by knocking and asking to enter their woods. It's always wise to ask for permission. #woodlarking #woodlarker #woodlarkers #naturelovers #paganlife #paganliving #pagancommunity #blog #natureblog #natureblogger #woodlarkingblog #witch #pagan #witchcraft #photooftheday #nature #naturelover #landscape #wildlife #igersnature #willowbark #willow #bark #naturetherapy #naturevibes #wanderlust #getoutdoors #getoutside #outdoors

The Oak says rain. "If the ash is out before the oak, We shall surely have a soak." Everyone must have heard of the old rhyme: If the ash comes out before the oak There'll be a summer soak. Hiking - "I don't like either the word or the thing. People ought to saunter in the mountains - not hike! Do you know the origin of that word 'saunter?' It's a beautiful word. Away back in the Middle Ages people used to go on pilgrimages to the Holy Land, and when people in the villages through which they passed asked where they were going, they would reply, 'A la sainte terre,' 'To the Holy Land.' And so they became known as sainte-terre-ers or saunterers. Now these mountains are our Holy Land, and we ought to saunter through them reverently, not 'hike' through them." - John Muir #woodlarking #woodlarker #woodlarkers #naturelovers #paganlife #paganliving #pagancommunity #blog #natureblog #natureblogger #woodlarkingblog #witch #pagan #witchcraft #hiking #saunter #johnmuir

Things I find woodlarking... Here's a good one that you won't often see here in Britain, Chaga growing on a birch. I found some of this growing in the same area several years ago but have kept an eye out and was lucky enough to spot this one growing off the path a bit. Serious stuff this Chaga, if you know, you know 🙂 #woodlarking #woodlarker #woodlarkers #naturelovers #paganlife #paganliving #pagancommunity #blog #natureblog #natureblogger #woodlarkingblog #witch #pagan #witchcraft #fungus #chaga #birch #birchtree #birchchaga #woodland #forest #trees

I love finding little trees like this baby yew. This could be growing here in a thousand years time, maybe longer. “The yew tree is the most important of all the healing trees, it said. It lives for thousands of years. Its berries, its bark, its leaves, its sap, its pulp, its wood, they all thrum and burn and twist with life. It can cure almost any ailment man suffers from, mixed and treated by the right apothecary.” ― Patrick Ness, A Monster Calls #yew #yewtree #babytree #babyyew #woodlarking #woodlarker #woodlarkers #naturelovers #paganlife #paganliving #pagancommunity #blog #natureblog #natureblogger #woodlarkingblog

She Lived in a Tree for 738 Days ~ The Amazing Story of Julia Butterfly Hill. Julia Butterfly Hill lived in a giant 1500-year-old redwood tree named Luna for 738 consecutive days from December 1997 to December 1999. She ended her revolutionary action after reaching an agreement with Pacific Lumber Company to spare the tree and a 200-foot buffer zone surrounding it. Sanctuary Forest, based in Humboldt County, CA, facilitated a negotiation between Julia, from her perch 180 feet in the canopy, and the Pacific Lumber Company that included a $50K payment for lost logging revenue, which was later donated to research for sustainable forestry. Sanctuary Forest became the trustee of a conservation easement to protect Luna and continues to protect her to this day. https://www.treesisters.org/post/story-julia-butterfly-hill #woodlarking #woodlarker #woodlarkers #naturelovers #paganlife #paganliving #pagancommunity #blog #natureblog #natureblogger #woodlarkingblog #juliabutterflyhill #redwood #luna #peacefulprotest

Petrichor is the smell of rain. The word comes from the Greek words 'petra', meaning stone, and 'ichor', which in Greek mythology refers to the golden fluid that flows in the veins of the immortals. #woodlarking #woodlarker #woodlarkers #naturelovers #paganlife #paganliving #pagancommunity #blog #natureblog #natureblogger #woodlarkingblog #petrichor #smellafterrain #thesmellafterrain

-Sleeping In The Forest- I thought the earth remembered me, she took me back so tenderly, arranging her dark skirts, her pockets full of lichens and seeds. I slept as never before, a stone on the riverbed, nothing between me and the white fire of the stars but my thoughts, and they floated light as moths among the branches of the perfect trees. All night I heard the small kingdoms breathing around me, the insects, and the birds who do their work in the darkness. All night I rose and fell, as if in water, grappling with a luminous doom. By morning I had vanished at least a dozen times into something better. – Mary Oliver #woodlarking #woodlarker #woodlarkers #naturelovers #paganlife #paganliving #pagancommunity #blog #natureblog #natureblogger #woodlarkingblog #forest #sleepingintheforest #maryoliver #poetry #maryoliverpoetry
