Moments from Nashville, captured on 35mm film. Though I rarely use them, I am a big Nikon fan. I just prefer focusing with a rangefinder and the size/mechanics of the Leica M’s for film/digital so they are the instruments I use for photojournalism and documenting. I own a Nikon F3 and a Nikon FM2, and to add to that collection of iconic Nikon cameras, I bought this Nikon F1 at @artifctnash. The Nikon F1 holds an important place in the history of photojournalism, from the images captured of the Vietnam War, to Linda McCartney’s photographs of The Beatles, and everything else inbetween. Moments from Nashville, captured on 120 film. 1st image: Le Laboureur work jacket in French Blue made in Digoine, France hanging on shower rod at home air drying on a Sunday night after a well needed wash. This is Le Laboureur work jacket number one, well worn from daily documenting with three to four cameras strapped on and mended via my meager sewing skills, with Le Laboureur work jacket number two (out of five) currently in daily rotation. Number three is my “formal” work jacket, until it becomes my daily wear, and so on…I started wearing the Le Laboureur work jacket in French Blue for several reasons, first as a nod to Bill Cunningham, who always showed up and did the work (which are my two mantras. It’s all about showing up, and the only thing that you can control is the work, so do the work). Second, form and function. The same reason why Bill wore them. They have pockets for my Leica M10 batteries, SD cards, lenses, 35mm film, lens cloths, etc, as I do not like camera bags. Along with the work jackets (in the winter I have two wool versions by Le Laboureur), Alex Mill white button down paper cotton shirts, J.Crew 770 straight fit stretch chinos (sometimes I+W barton slim selvedge jeans), various ties, socks with red hearts from I+W, various Tiger Onitsuka and Nike sneakers/RM Williams and Blundstone boots, and an Omega Speedmaster complete my daily uniform. Previous to the French Le Laboureur French Blue work jacket, I wore an Oil/Lumber blue work jacket which has earned its retirement in my closet.
