Well finally spent some time on the 32. Was time to see if the motor fit after moving the body forward for gas tank and hood fitment. I’ve never had a motor mounted in this frame and mounts on the chassis were already there. Going to have to get something else or made for the motor side. This 1930 model A coupe project showed up just as we were finishing the new shop (roof was literally going on) last December I felt really bad for this car, it had been started and horribly cobbled together by another shop I feel shouldn’t have tried to take it on (not a hotrod or automotive shop) the minute it arrived and got off the tow truck the fully rebuilt Hemi motor had fallen out the bottom of the chassis, plug holes full to the brim with water and the radiator and grille shell also fell off and was hanging by a bolt all bent off forwards, we had to cut out and re do most of what was welded in previously, finish boxing the frame where they left if open and fabricated and welded everything else that is now in the frame , a lot of work has gone into this car already, work really got going around September/October, the customer also custom ordered the Sanderson headers way before the car was even put together which presented a challenge making them physically fit a jive with the rest of the car, they’re huge and wide! wheel turning space was the biggest issue, the body and motor, grille/radiator had to be moved back 2.5” from where it all should be to give the tires just enough room to turn full lock against the headers, had to mock up using my roadsters little 5.00 16” Firestone dirt tracker tires to get the clearance needed, the body is almost done with all the rust repair work (the usual 6” all the way around) and also the rear subframe work needed to make a model A body fit a 32 chassis is finished up too she’s looking pretty good and well on the way to becoming a pretty bad ass little HotRod #hotrod #modelAcoupe #customcar #241hemi #earlyford #earlyhemi #32fordchassis #rustrepair #carbuilder #hotrodshop #chemainusbc #cowichanvalley
