Tomorrow I’m headed to career day at a middle school to talk about my creative career. I don’t have a fancy table, back drop or all that pretty stuff. Here’s what my table will include. A Library card. A notebook and pen. My lab top. & a stress ball. I’ve worked with black and brown girls for over a decade. I’ve been a black girl for my whole life. What they’ve expressed to me a thousand times over. Is why their environment and the oppressor keeps them from going after their dreams. My goal is to ignite their imagination with what they currently have access too. So I’m giving it to these black and brown kids raw. My first space I was able to dream was a library. I learned to love books, reading, looking at pictures and the silence that the library produces is like a creation station for you to tap into imagination. I started writing poetry when I was 6. I remember writing letters to my mom, and inspirational quotes so a note book and pen were the first tools that gave my voice power to create. Y’all remember that program PAINT on windows. Not nobody was touching me. That was my first time understanding that technology and creativity truly have a dope marraige. Lastly I’ll be breaking down wellness of the mind is healthy for you to imagine, dream and create well to impact lives. I’ll be showing them how I reached my sales goal last month and why a creative career is one of the dopest ones. My creative passion has produced a profitable profession and purposeful brand.
