#TBT || For those who are just becoming familiar with A Vibe Called Fresh, it initially began with a group of friends who were recent college grads, deciding to host a cookout to say farewell to summer. This was a world before social media as we know it. It was simply a genuine, good time. The cookout carried on for a decade, until county officials made us shut it down. After reading Ta-nehisi Coates' acclaimed piece in @theatlantic: "The Case for Reparations", followed by "Color of Law" by Richard Rothstein, we decided to use our ability to gather people and have a good time, to introduce them to tools, resources and education that encourages home ownership and long term wealth building. In the two years we've had this event, almost 30 people have mentioned that this event was the catalyst for them to begin their journey towards home ownership. For that, we are extremely proud. We have indeed come a long way from playing trap music all through Sugar Creek Park. However, not too far... We still have a good ass time... There's just a purpose behind it now. You should come. Tell your friends to come. You will have fun. You might even change the trajectory of your life... People are currently living with the residual injuries of the policies and practices of our city, state & nation(from not that long ago). Homeownership is essentially the cornerstone of the American dream. It shapes the lineage of future generations.
