✅Win. Another character building day for our hard-working team of Technicians. Taking the lead early in the game, we were once again in a position to fight off a late comeback from the opposition. Unlike previous games, this team showed the resolve and composure needed to reclaim the momentum in overtime and score the game winner within the first 30s. 🚨**BIG Announcement**🚨 It is our honor to formally congratulate Collin Russell ‘23 on his COMMITMENT to play college lacrosse at Kalamazoo College!🟠⚫️⚪️ #GoHornets • Collin started his lacrosse career as a Sophomore at Cass Tech alongside his twin brother Cole and from the jump we knew they were both going to be something special. Showing promise in every position, Collin leaned into playing long-pole, quickly realizing his potential on the defense end of the field. From there, Collin channeled his innate competitive instinct to outwork his brother and the stage was set for greatness for this young man. Showing incredible coach-ability, Collin understood that his development and his success would be directly linked to the future success of our program and he reveled in that opportunity. With tireless work ethic in his DNA, Collin too became a Varsity starter in his first season eventually becoming “that guy” for the Cass Tech Defense for 3 consecutive seasons. Throwing punishing stick/body checks, intercepting passes, flying by opposing players in transition, Collin was the Quarterback of our Defense and made everyone around him better because of it. During critical moments throughout his career, Collin would also be called in to pick up the short-stick and play “man-up” which he embraced without hesitation. Collin finished his career as Team Captain his senior season, Hard Hat Award winner (‘22) and a two-time Defensive Most Valuable Player (‘22, ‘23), but what shines through most is his authenticity as a leader and high standard of character as a young man. Aggressive, competitive, relentless, tough beyond measure…Collin was destined for collegiate lacrosse. His leadership and the Russell’s impact on our program will be cemented in history. Cole finished his career as Team Captain his senior year and two-time winner of our coveted Hard-Hart Award (‘22, ‘23), but perhaps Cole’s greatest accolade would be the consistency of his character as a young man. 🚨**BIG Announcement**🚨 It is our honor to formally congratulate Nigel Baker ‘23 on his COMMITMENT to play NCAA Division 2 college lacrosse at Tiffin University!🟢🟡 #DragonPride • Nigel started his lacrosse career as a Junior at Cass Tech. Joining from the CT soccer program, Nigel immediately applied his soccer skill-set to the lacrosse field, making creative plays in space and inevitably building the confidence to blow by his defenders down the sidelines. It didn’t take long for Nigel understand the fundamentals of the game which lead him to earning major playing time as his first season progressed. Battling adversity his Senior year, Nigel continued to compete while also embracing a major leadership role with our first-year/JV players, teaching, mentoring and leading with passion. Whether it’s field lacrosse or box lacrosse, Nigel will was willing to lay his body on the line for his teammates and represented the CT brand of toughness well. Within a week of picking up the lacrosse stick, Carrington became a starter on our Varsity team learning, growing and gaining the experience needed to step into his role as a senior. Flash-forward one year, Carrington is a Captain, currently leads our team in scoring (48G, with three 6-goal games) and literally creates a highlight real every time he touches the ball. ✅WIN. The Green Guys secure win #9. Getting off to somewhat of a slow start, the Technicians kicked it into gear and got up to an early 3 goal lead. A few mental lapses and missed assignments brought the score to a tie. With the momentum against us our young men didn’t panic, they remained focused and stayed composed to finish the work we started. ✅WIN. Under the lights in downtown Detroit, the Green Guys got it done once again with wins for both our Varsity & JV programs. Our JV team picked up their first win of the season 7-4 with some huge strides made by our young men learning the game, and learning to play as a team. Varsity trailed for most of the first half, but secured a tie score heading into halftime. Brushing off early mistakes, the entire team stepped up in the 2nd half, making big plays when it mattered most. We will continue to push, fix our mistakes and improve.
