Before True Crime took over the newsmagazine genre, Dateline attempted to capture the 60 Minutes audience that wanted the long form interviews and various segments like this one. Who else remembers the Dateline Timeline? I always remembered this segment being my one of my favorites as a kid. Every once in awhile, I think I got a few right because I could usually nail anything date related that had to do with TV or pop culture even back then. The only segment or show that comes remotely close to something like this would be @cbssaturday’s “On This Day” segment, which I always liked. And of course, Through the Decades with Bill Kurtis.
