Bringing Forth a Sustainable Future: Sustain Africa-ETG Initiative Unveiled in ETG Agri Inputs Ghana The official launch of the Sustain Africa-ETG Initiative took place on Friday, May 19, 2023, in Ghana signaling a significant step towards a sustainable future. The initiative focuses on empowering smallholder farmers and strengthening local value chains by providing them with 15,000 metric tons of discounted fertilizers to support their agricultural endeavors. The Sustain Africa-ETG Initiative aims to provide support to smallholder farmers in Ghana by offering discounted fertilizers. The official launch ceremony was graced by Hon. Dr Brian Acheampong, who inaugurated the initiative in his capacity as the Minister of Food and Agriculture. Also present were Ben Valk, Executive Director of Sustain Africa, Fred Akowuah, Country Director of ETG, Nana-Aisha Mohammed, West Africa Program Implementation Lead/Ghana Country Manager of AFAP, and Assetta Diallo, Director of AFAP. Through this program, smallholder farmers can acquire a 50-kilogram bag of ammonium sulphate fertilizer at a discounted rate of GH¢250, which is lower than the regular market price of GH¢300. Additionally, they have the opportunity to purchase a 50-kilogram bag of NPK 23-10 fertilizer at a reduced price of GH¢300, compared to the market price of GH¢450. This initiative aims to make these essential fertilizers more affordable and accessible to support the dedicated farmers in their agricultural pursuits. Sustain Africa serves as an agricultural emergency response and collaborative platform for Africa, focusing on enhancing agriculture value chains and food systems across the continent.
