Welcome to our newest member of the Royal Yeomanry joining A Squadron @the_sherwood_rangers Tpr D. Tpr D is from Nottingham. Previously a member of the Army Cadet Force also a keen runner and is currently training for his first half marathon. In his Civilian career he works within his local government constituency in an office based role for Leicestershire and Rutland Council. Tpr D wanted to join The Royal Yeomanry to develop his skill set outside of his day job and enhance his future opportunities. Royal Yeomanry Shooting Team A regimental shooting team weekend was held recently whereby members of the squadron put themselves forward to potentially gaining a spot on the Regimental Shooting Team. 🟩 It was a weekend filled with plenty of practice shoots on what they will face when they compete in the annual brigade shooting competition competing against Regular and other reserved units. 🟩 The training weekends allow personnel to practice many formats and building positions in preparation for the competition itself. Today saw our Sqn SSM WO2 W head over to MPCT Wolverhampton where he had the pleasure of being the inspecting officer for their Awards ceremony and graduation. After inspecting the parade, he gave out various awards to the students for achievements they have made the since starting the course. Last weekend B Sqn(Dudley) and D Sqn(Telford) came together for a VBS training weekend. VBS allows our crews to gain confidence in the basics of operating as part of a mounted crew. Covering basic and advanced tactics and SOPs, VBS sets our crews in good stead for when they get out on the ground. This week, Cpl B and LCpl’s L and B represented the RAC in the GCC netball team. This newly formed team was made up of soldiers from across the RAC and Infantry. Ex Yeoman Dive 02 - 13 Oct 23 🇨🇾 After completing their Ocean Diver course in Stoney Cove, soldiers from across all Sqn’s are in Cyprus on diving AT. Once they achieve their Sports Diver qualification, they will be completing depth progression up to 40m. Soldiers will be tested at depth, navigating wrecks and diving at night in the Mediterranean. It was a busy weekend for A Sqn (Nottingham) and B Sqn (Dudley) as they took part in community engagement events as part of Armed Forces Day (AFD) 2023. **Happy Reserves Day** Here at B Squadron we have a diverse array of Soldiers with a wide range of interesting Civilian Careers. We are now half way through Armed Forces week and today is the day we celebrate the commitment to UK Defence of our Reserve Forces. Soldiers are asked to wear their uniform to work! LCpl A a PTI within the Squadron is also a firefighter based at Haden Cross Fire Station in the Black Country! LCpl L is a Civil Servant by day and works in Counter Fraud Compliance but in his spare time he is the Squadron HR Specialist. Today he had the honour of attending Number 10 in celebration of Reserve Day 23. Finally LCpl B who works for MPCT and is Centre Manager at Wolverhampton supporting young people into careers within the uniformed services. D Sqn (Telford) spent this weekend on Ex Loggerhead Explorer, a weekend training package testing their navigation, communication and patrolling skills. Targets Up! This weekend saw members of the regiment get to grips with the L129A1 Sharpshooter rifle on the ranges. These personnel add a new capability to the Royal Yeomanry, as the first cohort trained on this weapon system.
