Animated Ariel! I posted my love for the live action Ariel played by Halle Bailey, But we can’t for get about the animated Ariel voiced by the talented @jodi.benson. “Oh, I think you’ll be needing this.”- Jodi Benson as The Market Vendor in 2023’s The Little Mermaid! Ever since I got the Disney 100 village Ariel doll back in November, I wanted to recreate my favorite scene in the live action Little Mermaid which is @jodi.benson’s cameo as The Market Vendor and she gives Halle’s Ariel the Dinglehopper. It’s such a sweet scene between BOTH Ariel’s. I love it so much. I know the Ariel doll looks nothing like Jodi’s character in the live action movie but I still wanted to recreate the scene anyways. I recreated @jodi.benson’s quote from the live action movie with an animated Ariel doll since there’s not a doll of The Market Vendor that Jodi plays in the movie, But I’d totally get one if they made The Market Vendor that would be so amazing. Jodi’s cameo is my favorite part of the movie because Jodi is forever my Ariel as I’ve said in the past, She’ll always be my Ariel while Halle is my live action Ariel. As usual I just HAD to recreate this picture of Jodi and Halle behind the scenes of The Little Mermaid 2023, Jodi’s cameo in the movie as The Market Vendor. As you can see I recreated this picture with dolls made by @hasbro & @mattel, It was pretty tough trying to pose them because they have limited articulation but these are the only Ariel dolls I have at the moment. I do plan on getting better Ariel dolls both from the animated and live action movies with better articulation soon though. I just had to recreate this moment of our two Ariel’s. Even though Jodi wasn’t playing Ariel in the movie she was just The Market Vendor but she did voice Ariel in the 1989 movie and without Jodi there would be no Halle as Ariel. So in my eyes and opinion they BOTH are Ariel and always will be. I’ve seen the movie twice now and Jodi’s cameo is still my favorite part of the movie. It’s just such a beautiful emotional passing of the torch or should I say dinglehopper moment for both Jodi and Halle, As Jodi is the original Ariel and Halle is the new Ariel. It’s an emotional scene where Jodi says “I think you’ll be needing this.” As she passing on the dinglehopper to Halle’s Ariel. So yes even though it was hard recreating this picture and once I get better dolls I will do a better job with the picture. I hope @jodi.benson will post more pictures if she has anymore to post of this special movie. I think I overall did an okay job with the picture though. I tried to recreate Jodi and Halle’s hug from TLM movie premiere, It was hard to do since Funko POP’s don’t have any movement besides the head. But I tried the best I could. I got the last animated Ariel doll I needed at Walmart, Since I already had the play line dolls of my first 3 favorite Disney Princesses (Snow White, Belle and Aurora.) Lately, I’ve been in a Little Mermaid mood. Because of the live action movie coming out in May, Which I’m pretty excited for. I just hope it’s not a let down. I am also excited for the merchandise too, Before this POP went up in value more I had to get it and it’s of Ursula as Vanessa..Such a cool POP. Ursula is in my top 10 favorite Disney villains and I wanted this POP for a while it’s a POP in a box exclusive, So it’s not apart of the common set. Did you know while the late Pat Carroll did the voice of Ursula, Our Ariel @jodi.benson herself did the voice of Ursula’s counterpart Vanessa aka Ursula in human form. Always found that so cool! Happy 33rd anniversary to my 4th favorite Disney movie, The Little Mermaid. Yes it’s the 33rd anniversary of The Little Mermaid today, I grew up with this movie. I consider it a classic.
