The Makings of a Merger: University California, Santa Barbara Brings Two IAM Teams Together during InCommon’s Collaboration Success Program The University of California, Santa Barbara (UCSB), participated in the 2023 cohort of the InCommon Collaboration Success Program (CSP) to help bring two identity and access management (IAM) teams together to work towards the same goals. “We are looking at existing redundancies, for example, between what [system] is running in the student affairs’ identity space vs. the campus identity space,” said Jim Woods, UCSB’s director of cloud and identity services. “What kind of technical debt are we facing? University of Washington Gets Upgraded During InCommon’s Collaboration Success Program The University of Washington (UW) participated in the 2023 cohort of the Collaboration Success Program (CSP) with the goal of addressing much needed upgrades to a heavily customized groups service system and exploring implementation of COmanage Registry and COmanage Match. During CSP, UW-IT successfully implemented a newer Grouper version into its cloud-based environment and continues to work toward a seamless transition, despite the heavy reliance upon the existing system as a critical center of the UW-IT infrastructure. In addition, UW-IT participants appreciated the different opportunities the CSP offered for engagement with other higher ed institutions, especially those already using Grouper.
