Another real mixture of things today. The nested sun and moon are one of the first designs I ever created, but which I never actually sold. I left myself a space this afternoon for some practice and decided to use it to tattoo this little dumpling on my own leg. I find tattooing myself incredibly hard (this took twice as long as it would have on another person!), but it's an important thing to do. Not only is it a rite of passage, but it is a uniquely valuable form of practice. Tattooing myself means that I get to feel everything my clients feel and learn how my handling of the machine affects that feeling. Today was one of the most fun days I've had tattooing so far! I've never done so many in one day before. A little ghost, plus spontaneous cactus for the lovely Jade. Two more kitties, Coldplay symbols and heart touch-ups for Charlotte, who sat like a champ. We also had the fire alarm go off whilst the studio was full of clients and I am so grateful to them and my colleagues for staying calm, good-humoured and sweet as pie. I had a couple of awesome tattoos today. It was a true honour for Ini to trust me to tattoo her daughter's writing. New logo? NEW LOGO! (Plus small announcement) My clam shell logo is a very important image in my tattoo journey. It represented a specific moment in time, when I was confronting, and overcoming, the fundamental challenges of tattooing, before I had even picked up a machine. However, it was never meant to be permanent. I wanted to wait until I found something more...'me' and the popularity of my kitty designs really helped me find out what that was going to be and, naturally, it turned out that it's a cat in a space helmet π€£ I won't say this is the final ever version of my logo, but it is the one I'll be using going forward. The small announcement mentioned above is that, other than bookings I already have, I will be temporarily pausing taking future bookings on Tuesdays as I want to make sure I dedicate a full day purely to practicing technique in the studio. So, for the foreseeable future, I will only be available for bookings on Wednesday, Friday and Saturday.
