Journalism major Joe Kraus interned with the Twin Cities Sun newspaper, Buffalo Bisons and WIVB-TV Sports (Buffalo) while he studied at Canisius. This year he completed his third year, and second full season as the “Voice of Daemen College” men’s and women’s basketball on ECC Network, the streaming sports network of the East Coast Conference NCAA Division II. Joe earned an Academic Achievement award in Journalism from the Communication Department. His favorite quote: "Don't count the days. Make the days count." - Muhammad Ali. Congratulations, Joe. Owen Shannon majored in Journalism and English, and is the recipient of the Academic Excellence in Journalism award, having earned the highest GPA in the major. He completed an internship at WGRZ Ch. 2, the local NBC affiliate. He also wrote a thesis that considered the future of local news organizations. Owen says he learned multimedia skills at Canisius that will fuel his future endeavors – including podcasting, blogging, YouTube, and photography. Congratulations, Owen! #JRNgrad #JRNfamily

It’s Senior Week and we’re honoring our amazing COM, DMA, and JRN graduates! Congratulations to the Class of 2020! During his senior year at Canisius, Journalism major Brad Berchou was hired by local CBS affiliate WIVB Channel 4 as a news photographer. As a student, he worked on the production crew on many of the games broadcast on ESPN3 and ESPN+. One highlight of his time behind the camera as a student, was when one of his camera shots from a Golden Griffins basketball game appeared on ESPN’s SportsCenter as a “Top 10” highlight in his junior year. We’re so proud of Brad and the work he’s already done as a professional journalist, and the excellent work he did here as a student. Congratulations! #JRNgrad #JRNfamily
