Last night was BEAUTIFUL! A total full circle ⭕️ moment! The 10 year Anniversary celebration of our production “The Life Of A Just Sole” nothing short of INCREDIBLE! It displayed 14 years of Just Sole! Street Dance Theater excellence!THANK YOU SO MUCH to our Founding Members and Current members of @justsolesdt for putting on a masterful performance! You all ready DID that! All of the hard work paid off!!! You all have and are blazing a trail of Honesty and Integrity with Street Dance Theater that all who witnessed got the opportunity to experience! The standing O’s, crowd participation, donations, and support you all received last night was not only evidence, but affirmation of your artistry and commitment to excellence! A special thank you goes out to @uartsschoolofdance, the production team, and the President Yager Fund for sponsoring our anniversary! No words can truly express our gratitude. Today is a Full Circle Moment! • On this day, April 14 2012, Exactly 12 years ago, my husband @justsole and I brought in @nubiannene via our educational entity, @funkysolefundamentals to teach a Waacking for our 1 year Anniversary. Our purpose has always been to preserve Hip Hop/ Street and club dance culture within our community. WOW! So 2023 was a lot! In the midst of utter chaos, this TREMENDOUS honor was bestowed upon me. I was selected by the ICON and LIVING LEGEND @joanmyersbrown and her daughter @marlisabs to receive @Philadanco’s first ever “JOANIE” Award at the ribbon cutting ceremony for their new black box theater. A blessing I will never forget. The award is called “The One To Watch.” It feels good to know that someone who has literally watched you grow as a dance artist for 20 years, is still watching you, and wants to acknowledge / bring attention to your work. Week 3 of Hip Hop is 50! at Swarthmore College! A Week for the History Books 📚✨ (1/2) The final week of Hip Hop is 50! Was nothing short of INCREDIBLE! MOPTOP Crew came through in the BIGGEST way! THANK YOU SO MUCH @buddhastretch @caleafsellers @ejoewilson @loosejointhiphopdance @chrybaby_cozie 🙏🏾✊🏾💯❤️🙏🏾 It is an uncommon occurrence to have all of these Pioneers/ Legends gathered in one space for any occasion. So for them to be here for this event was a DREAM COME TRUE AND A TRUE BLESSING! Especially being that they haven’t been together like this since their appearance in the 1992 PBS Documentary Wreckin Shop Live From Brooklyn! 30 YEARS! The event started with a Lecture on their history. Our community was affirmed and edified through their presence, teaching and sharing of who they are, their methods and what Hip Hop dance and culture actually is… from the source. First @queen_dinita and I want to thank EVERY SINGLE PERSON who came out and supported @funkysolefundamentals 12 year Anniversary !!! It was truly HUMBLING. It has been 3 years since our last Anniversary celebration due to the pandemic and this could not have gone any better! The hunger, the drive, the focus, and openness of every participant reminded us of why we began. Which was to preserve street and club dance forms for future generations to cherish, speak through, find community, and identity. We want to thank our special guest educator @futureasns for the incredibly inspirational concepts and treasure chest full of gems he dropped on us. Mind blowing 🤯🤯🤯 Things to reflect on for real!
