Naya Tapper aka Naya on Fiya is a rugby powerhouse to say the least. Naya has all the tools required to dominate; from strength, to brains, to pure speed. A former high school All-American in track & field, it was no surprise that she was began her rugby career at UNC Chapel Hill where she started in 2012. Fun fact: NAYAONFIYA came from my moms best friend. They both grew up in Jamaica Queens NY and would always makes rhymes (they still do) hence how #nayaonfiya came about! That’s the name she would call me growing up and to this day. I can still hear her emphasizing the fiya part😂When I made the decision to build my brand, that name popped up and just made sense. Fun fact: I learned where the word coach came from a couple weeks ago at a @rhinosrugbyacademy camp. In my own words lol, coach came from stage coach which back in the day was a form of transportation that took you from your destination to your final destination. Making it to the Olympics has been a goal of mine for a good amount of years now and I couldn’t have done it without all the coaches I’ve experienced that have slowly built me into the athlete that I am, getting me from one destination to the next. Big shoutout to my current coach @chrisbrowncoaching that has gotten me to my final destination. He has challenged me every day (literally) and some days I was up for it and others days I wasn’t. But he never quit on me and I appreciate him so much for that because if you know me you know I can be a handful. Looking forward to accomplishing our team goal of bringing back the 🥇 with you, our staff, my teammates, and our great supporters.

Did you know that cost is the #1 reason that kids can’t play sports? I am grateful to have been in a place where finances weren’t a barrier for me when it came to playing sports. My life has changed in the best of ways because of my participation in sports. Knowing this, I am dedicated to making sure as many kids as possible have the same opportunities I did. I am a champion and supporter of @everykidsports and I look forward to not only spreading awareness of the good deeds this organization is doing by helping kids in low income situations play sports, but also interacting with the very kids that will be positively affected by Every Kid Sports and their mission.

My content creator chose violence one day and took me to the busiest/most populated area to go take pictures. Talk about having to find confidence quick 😂 Can’t go wrong with throwing up a random peace sign and a big smile. I will say, the Sunday bikers seemed to enjoy the view💁🏾♀️ I’ve gotten a lot better with not giving a damn and just being confident in who I am and what I’m doing regardless of who’s around. When I was able to take control of that aspect of my confidence, the confidence to be yourself not just around your close friends, I was free!
