If you enjoy painting on wooden panels either straight with gesso or cotton / linen canvas fixed to them, I'd highly suggest taking a trip to your local lumberyard to grab them. Now this is kinda specific to the US but for 70 dollars I was able to get a 5ft x 5ft sheet of 1/8th inch Baltic birch cut into 30 panels, 9x12 inches in size with a handful of offcuts spare. For me, that's an absolute steal. They're not warped, high quality and straight cuts which took the guy barely five minutes to do. Saves all the legwork and mishaps of cutting it yourself...and it's still so much cheaper than anything I can find of comparable quality. While factories often use the cheap stamped sheet meal jack mount in teles, those that use the better quality electrosocket typically just leave the .08" lip sticking up from the body. Installing the jack plate flush starts with rotating the drill press table 90 degrees. Clamp the body with the flat jack mouth surface perpendicular to the plane of the bit. Drill .08 deep with a 1" forester bit, the diameter of the outer jack flange. With the body secured in position change to a 7/8" bit with the body and drill the center out until reaching the control cavity. Simple, sleek, and snazzy 👍🏻👍🏻 check out this fun little project😊 this is a little cactus pot made from maple and walnut alternating. The inside has been coated with epoxy to make it watertight and protect the wood. I started by glueing up three small boards to make the blank, after drying it was cut to size and then cut in half following the grain to help hide the cut. The two halves were taken to the bandsaw to remove the circle halves before glueing them back together and adding the final piece on bottom. Cutting off the corners at 45 degrees, sanding, coating with epoxy, more sanding, finishing, and finally planting. I had a blast making it as a break from the ongoing bigger builds.
