Each lunar month in Hindu calendar has two Chaturthi Tithis. According to Hindu scriptures Chaturthi Tithi(s) belongs to Lord Ganesha. The Chaturthi after Amavasya or new moon during Shukla Paksha is known as Vinayaka Chaturthi and the one after Purnimasi or full moon during Krishna Paksha is known as Sankashti Chaturthi. Although Vinayaka Chaturthi fasting is done every month but the most significant Vinayaka Chaturthi falls in month of Bhadrapada. Vinayaka Chaturthi during Bhadrapada month is known as Ganesha Chaturthi. Ganesha Chaturthi is celebrated by Hindus all over the world as the birthday of Lord Ganesha. Vinayaka Chaturthi is also known as Varad Vinayaka Chaturthi. Varad means "asking God to fulfill any desire one has". Lord Ganesha blesses devotees with wisdom and patience who observe this fast. The wisdom and patience are two virtues whose significance is known to human kind since ages. Anyone who possesses these virtues can progress in life and can achieve whatever one desires. Ganesha Puja on Vinayaka Chaturthi is done during afternoon which is midday according to Hindu calendar. The Muhurta to worship lord Ganesha during afternoon is listed along with Vinayaka Chaturthi dates. Location based Vinayaka Chaturthi Days It is important to understand that fasting day for Vinayaka Chaturthi might differ for two cities even if those cities are within same Indian state. Fasting for Vinayaka Chaturthi depends on sunrise and sunset timings and it is observed when Chaturthi Tithi prevails during midday. Hence Vinayaka Chaturthi fasting might be observed on Tritiya Tithi i.e. one day before Chaturthi Tithi. Dia 6 Katyayani Devi O aspecto da Devi é tão brilhante como o ouro. O Sábio Katyayan estava envolvido em penitência rigorosa e adoração a Durga. A Sua oração era para que a Mãe aparecesse em sua casa como sua filha. Mãe Bhagavati então determinou nascer no décimo quarto dia da lua nova em 'Aashwin”, após algum tempo, quando o mundo foi aterrorizado por Mahishasura, O Senhor Brahma, Vishnu e Shiva oraram a deusa para combater asuras e destruir Mahishasur em Dashami. Ela matou Sumbha e Nisumbha, dois demônios, que representam raiva e ódio. Katyayan foi o primeiro a adorá-la e por isso ela é conhecida como Devi Katyayani. Deusa Chandraghanta De acordo com a Religião Hindu, a Deusa Chandraghanta é a forma casada da Deusa Parvati. Após o casamento do Senhor Shiva e da Deusa Parvati, o Senhor Mahadev adornou a Deusa com um Chandra ( a Lua ) que foi feito com 'Chandan' e, portanto, a Divindade se tornou popular como Chandraghanta. Shravan Putrada Ekadashi Sunday, 27 August 2023 Ekadashi Start Date: 27 August 2023 at 12:01 AM Ekadashi End Date: 27 Aug 2023 at 09:32 PM Shravana Putrada Ekadashi: Vrat Katha As per the ‘Bhavishya Purana’, Lord Krishna told a story to Yudhishthira about King Mahijit of Mahishmati. King Mahijit had everything that one could think of- a loving wife, a wealthy kingdom and loyal subjects. However, the king did not have a son whom he could name his successor to the throne. The king performed many rituals to seek divine blessings to have a son but didn’t get any help and as a result, he became very sad. One day in the court, the king expressed his sorrow in front of his subjects. The subjects driven by their loyalty towards the king vowed to find a solution to his problem. The subjects started wandering in the forests discussing the king’s problem with many sages. Then, the subjects met with Sage Lomesh who listened to the problem and by his divine meditative powers saw that the reason why King Mahijit is unable to have a son of his own in this life is a very serious sin that he committed in his previous life. Sage Lomesh told the king’s subjects that in his previous life, the king was a merchant and while passing through a forest, he came across a pond. Being very thirsty he rushed to drink some water. However, there was also a cow with her calf who came to drink water from that pond. But he looked down in arrogance upon the cow & her calf and chased them away. While he drank water from the pond and quenched his thirst, the cow and her calf were left thirsty. Due to this sin that he committed he was cursed with not having a son of his own. Sage Lomesh told the subjects that the king along with his queen should observe the ‘Shravan Shukla Paksha Ekadashi Vrat’ which is also known as ‘Shravan Putrada Ekadashi Vrat’ and also told the subjects to do the same themselves and offer their ‘Punya’ (good deed effects) that they would accumulate by observing the Vrat. It is said of Devi Durga that She rules from the Lion Throne Hence our statements: "We Bow Before The Lion Throne", "We Serve The Lion Throne". And, of course, from the Lalita Sahasranama [The Thousand-Names (Sahasra-Nama) of The Goddess]: श्री महाराज्ञी , श्रीमत् सिंहासनेश्वरी , भुवनेश्वरी, देवी दुर्गा Sri MahaRajni , Srimat SinhAsanEshvari , BhuvanEshwari, Devi Durga Greatest Queen, Glorious / Radiant Lion-Throne-Empress , Worlds-Empress, Goddess Durga Now it is easy to presume that there is conceptual resonancy between this and the more usual way we behold Durga seated upon a Lion - Her Vahana ['Vehicle' / 'Steed'], Dawon (often depicted as a Lion, or a Tiger, or both). Yet I think that there is quite some power in this more 'stationary' sit-uation. After all, while it is true that Devi upon a Mount is ultra-mobile - capable of going anywhere with incredible alacrity ... the Enthroned Devi is She About Whom All Else Turns. And given 'relativity' - well, we are all simply moving relative to Her. Which is the appropriate disposition. Not always asking "Gods, can You come here to me" (although there is definite cause for that, and righteous ways to do so) - but also (and in preference) asking "Gods, how may I come to *You*" She Is, we may say, the Mountain ['Parvati', indeed - and also an Axis Mundi saliency] that we must go to. Even as, upon occasion, Faith is enough to 'Move Mountains' to come down to us in the opposite direction. Or come down upon our enemies with the full force of a mountain-moving in landslide formation. With that in mind, it is perhaps intriguing to note that the particular Lion representation we behold here bears a Vaishnava tilaka. It is therefore recalling the fearsome and formidable Narasimha Avatara of Sri Vishnu. Of course, what few know - is that more archaic texts also are quite pointed in their leonine imagery for Rudra also ... and, as it happens, for Vak Devi likewise. Each of these Deities appearing (or, at least, being described as) Lions in the Vedic canon. So while *this particular* Lion is evidently intended to resonate with the Vaishnava mythology and iconography - there is not a monopoly on such for them.

Goddess KARU MARI or KRISHNA MARI an incarnation Annai Aadi Parashakthi , born as sister to Lord Krishna. Kamsa who was unaware of this exchange, feared that baby would be male and rushed to the place with great angry and came to know that baby born was female. He thought he was safe as it was a female baby and started laughing. Then the Female baby who was in lap of Devaki became angry and she turned black. Turning towards Kamsa, Baby told that one who would kill him was already born and you start counting your days to death. Kamsa became angry tried to kill the baby but baby with huge laughter disappeared from his hands. This black turned mother is named as Yogamaaya of Lord krishna and his sister. As she turned black she is called as Karu Mari. Then Goddess has reached Vindyachal mountains and became sanctified there. So she is called as Vindhyavasini one who dwells in Vindhya mountains. She is called as Nandaja or Nanda Devi as she was born to Nanda Dev of Gokulam. Nanda Devi is one among the six Anga devathas of Goddess Durga. She has already came to rescue in the form of YogaMaya or Maaya Roopini of Lord Narayana, when Lord Brahma was about to killed by Madhu and Khaitabha. सुरासम्पूर्णकलशं रुधिराप्लुतमेव च । दधाना हस्तपद्माभ्यां कूष्माण्डा शुभदास्तु मे ॥ Mata Kushmanda Kushmanda Devi , is the fourth aspect of Shakti worshiped among the Nava Durgas on the fourth day of Navaratri . Her name means Ku means little , Ushma means warmth and Anda means the cosmic egg of the universe , that is the Goddess which kept the egg like universe in her womb and gave it all the warmth is Kushmanda . Kushmanda is another name of the primal Shakti of the universe as her presence has been said even when there wasn’t nothing but darkness there prevailing everywhere , when there was no creation and no gods either . The formless Shakti then filled with desires took form of a female and further performed creation and she was also named Kushmanda . She is the Mother of all Gods including Bramha , Vishnu and Shiva . She has her abode in the inner portion of Surya-Loka or the Sun . Only she could live there and no one else. The hue and luster of her body also is just like that of the Sun glowing and effulgent, incomparable with any other god or goddess-herself being her own match. All the ten quarters are illuminated with her effulgence. Whatever brilliance is observed in the world-in living beings or objects is simply a reflection of her splendor. She is also said to be the one in Bramha ‘s imagination which helped him to perform creation . She has eight arms and is also known as Ashtabhuja . In her seven hands she holds Kamandalu, bow, arrow, lotus, a jar of Blood , discus, mace, respectively. In her eighth hand there is rosary capable of giving eight Siddhis and nine Nidhis. Her vehicle is either a tiger or a lion . On the fourth day of Navaratri Kusmanda is worshipped. This day the mind of the striver enters and stays in Anahata Chakra. So the striver is required to meditate on this aspect of the Mother with a steady mind and worship her single-mindedly. As a result of her worship the devotees get rid of all ailments and sorrows. The life span, name, strength and health are on the increase. The mother Kusmanda is easy to propitiate. Kali stands on Shiva (1895) - Artist Unknown Kali is the destructive aspect of the Goddess, Devi, in Hinduism. The Puranas describe her birth and appearance as such: Then Ambika became violently angry with her enemies, her face growing black as ink with rage. Suddenly there issued forth from between her eyebrows Kali, with protruding fangs, carrying a sword and a noose, with a mottled, skull-topped staff, adorned with a necklace of human skulls, covered with a tiger-skin, gruesome with shriveled flesh. Her mouth gaping wide, her lolling tongue terrifying, her eyes red and sunken, she filled the whole space with her howling. Kali was born from the Goddess’ (here Ambika aka Devi, Durga, etc) brow as the Daityas, led by Canda and Munda attacked Ambika. Kali then wrecked havoc and devoured, trampled, or slew the entire army. According to the Puranas Seeing the sudden demise of the whole Daitya army, Canda rushed to attack that most horrendous goddess Kali. The great demon covered the terrible-eyed goddess with a shower of arrows while Munda hurled discuses by the thousands. Caught in her mouth, those weapons shone like myriad orbs of the sun entering the belly of the clouds. Then howling horribly, Kali laughed aloud malevolently, her maw gaping wide, her fangs glittering, awful to behold. Astride her huge lion, the goddess rushed against Canda; grabbing his head by the hair, she decapitated him with her sword. When he was Canda dead, Munda attacked, but she threw him too to the ground, stabbing him with her sword in rage. Kali in Tantra In Tantric mythology, Kali (coming from the feminine form of kala meaning “time,” “death,” and “black”) is often depicting standing on top of her partner, Shiva. She usually a third eye in the middle of her forehead and has four arms (though some depict her with more), a garland of fifty human skulls around her neck, and a girdle of human hands around her waist. The skulls represent the fundamental energies of the cosmos. The hands symbolize action and its karmic fruition. She is also usually holding a decapitated head in one of her left hands and a sword in another. Devotees of Kali see her as a loving and protective mother.

The ninth manifestation of Goddess Durga is Siddhidathri, worshipped on the ninth day of Navaratri. Maa Siddhidathri has supernatural healing powers. This Goddess is admired to offer all types of Siddhi (perfection) to her devotees and thus recognized as ‘Siddhidathri’. She is always in a heavenly, happy and charming pose. She has four arms and sits on a lotus. Her arms hold Gada (bludgeon), Chakra, Shankh (scallop shell) and lotus flower. Worshipping Goddess Siddhidathri on the final ninth of Durga Navrathri bestows all Siddhis to her worshippers and it marks the successful completion of their Navrathri Poojan Utsav. **UPDATED FOR 12 OCT 2021:** NAVARATRI DAY 7: GODDESS KALARATRI 15 Oct 18: On the 7th day of the waxing fortnight of Ashwin, or Padmanabha shukla saptami, the worshipers of Goddess Durga revere Goddess Kalaratri. Like Goddess Kali, she is one of the dreadful forms of the Mother Goddess who takes such horrifying aspects to annihilate certain demons. Sometimes demonic men seek the boons of demigods to never be killed by "any man" as a way to cheat death. As a result the devatas themselves depute Goddess Durga to eliminate them. The horrific forms of the Mother Goddess are described in the various Puranas such as the Devi Purana and Markendaya Purana. Often Kalaratri and Kali are confused as being identical but they are in fact two different forms of the goddess. Kali is certainly the most well known of Durga's terrible forms. As described in the Markendaya Purana, she was assigned the task of killing the demon Raktabija ("Blood-seed"). Any drop of Raktabija's blood that touched the ground would spring up as a separate representative of himself--hence Goddess Kali was forced to drink his blood to save the Universe from a vast army of identical demons. Even after Raktabija and his duplicate "seeds" were eliminated, Kali continued her rampage. Hence Lord Shiva lay down before her to put the brakes on her one-woman war. Then, when she saw that she had accidentally placed her foot on the chest of her husband, her tongue protruded in a mood of astonishment and shame. It is not that she always has her tongue sticking out as her worships commonly allege. Shrila Prabhupada writes in the Bhaktivedanta Purport to Shrimad-Bhafgavatam 3.23.57: "Actually, the illusory, material energy is cheating everyone. People do not know what they are doing when they worship the material energy in the form of goddess Kālī or Durgā for material boons. They ask, “Mother, give me great riches, give me a good wife, give me fame, give me victory.” But such devotees of the goddess Māyā, or Durgā, do not know that they are being cheated by that goddess. Navaratri Day 6 - Maa Katyayani Also known as Mahishasurmardini, warrior goddess Katyayani is considered the destroyer of evil, and she symbolizes intelligence and peace. Katyayani is the divine force or principle of the unmanifest Divinity that arises in the subtle layers of creation against negativity and for the purpose of restoring Dharma. It is said that the anger of a wise person only brings about greater good; whereas even the love of an ignorant or foolish person can only cause more trouble. That is why Devi Katyanyani represents a beneficial and uplifting force. The subtle world which is invisible and unmanifest is ruled by this form of the Mother Divine. In this form, she represents everything that cannot be seen or understood. Katyayani represents the deep and most intricate secrets of Divinity. Maa Katyayani is believed to bring good fortune, remove negative energies, and clear hurdles in one’s life. She is called Katyayani because she is the daughter of Katyayana and is also known as Mahishasurmardini, as she killed the demon Mahishasura. The slaying of Mahishasura is celebrated as Durga Puja in many parts of India. The subtle world which is invisible and unmanifest is ruled by this form of the Mother Divine. Deusa Chandraghanta De acordo com a Religião Hindu, a Deusa Chandraghanta é a forma casada da Deusa Parvati. Após o casamento do Senhor Shiva e da Deusa Parvati, o Senhor Mahadev adornou a Deusa com um Chandra ( a Lua ) que foi feito com 'Chandan' e, portanto, a Divindade se tornou popular como Chandraghanta. A Deusa Parvati é adorada na forma de Devi Chandraghanta como a Deusa do Perdão e da Paz. Ela também é conhecida como Chandrakhanda, Chandika ou Rannchandi. Acredita-se que Ela recompensa as pessoas com sua graça, bravura e coragem. Na representação pictórica, Maa Chandraghanta, é vista com 10 mãos segurando um Trishula (tridente), Gada (maça), arco-flecha, khadak (espada), Kamala (flor de lótus), Ghanta (sino) e Kamandal (pota de água), enquanto uma de suas mãos permanece na postura de bênção ou abhayamudra (dissipação do medo).
