So, how often should you check your spare tyre? It's a good idea to check it at least once a month, and more often if you drive in harsh conditions or over long distances. Here's what to look for: Air pressure: Make sure your spare tyre is inflated to the correct pressure. You can find this information in your car's owner's manual. Tread depth: Your spare tyre should have at least 1.6mm of tread depth. You can check this by inserting a 20p coin into the tread. If the coin disappears, the tread depth is sufficient. Condition of the tyre: Check the tyre for any signs of damage, such as cracks, bulges or sidewall damage. If you see any damage, the tyre should be replaced. If you find that your spare tyre is not in good condition, it's important to have it replaced immediately.
