It’s been a busy few weeks for our forage team…. It all started with a visit with @dr_jjt_uga_ to a field with one of our red clover varieties Blaze’ that is flourishing past its expected lifespan in hot & humid Tifton, GA while also enriching the soil! Meanwhile, in Gainesville, FL, with Esteban Fernando Rios,@uflorida non-dormant alfalfa varieties stand tall, displaying exceptional leaf disease resistance in the pursuit of sustainable forage solutions. It was an awesome afternoon for a forage fanatic tour with our friends from @mvs.forage Mountain View Seeds! Always enjoy highlighting how well lots of forage species grow in the “Hot and Humid Deep South!” Today I also had a spectacular surprise - the forgotten clover of the Deep South as I like to say - phenomenal RED CLOVER! Walking in HIGH Clover!! The students were swimming in the Red Clover today in Alapaha - what an awesome stand in June!! This part of a GaBCC grant looking at best practice to successfully integrate clovers into bahiagrass in harsh environments… looks like (at least this harvest) - we did a pretty good job!!!
