HAPPY 1ST BIRTHDAY, ‘EVELYN’! On this day one year ago we released our second single ‘Evelyn’ to the world. Still over the moon with the support and success of our debut single ‘Conceited’, we was excited to share our second single ‘Evelyn’ with you all, showcasing a different sound, vibe and feel to ‘Conceited’. The song is dynamically different to ‘Conceited’, using a mixture of loud and quiet sections, which emphasises the lyrical content of the track, as well experimenting with a spoken word element on 'Evelyn'. Tyler incorporated a spoken word element to the track in the quiet sections, referencing two quotes in the bridge from the psychological thriller film Vertigo (1958) by Alfred Hitchcock. The outro of 'Evelyn' also incorporates a spoken word element, featuring a narration during the outro. Just after the recording of ‘Conceited’ was completed in March 2020, we recorded ‘Evelyn’ with the intention of it opening an EP, recording two tracks before the COVID-19 Pandemic caused schools and colleges to close. The track has received airplay in the UK, Australia, Greece, Oregon, South Carolina and more! We are so grateful to every station who has featured us! 25th March 2020 - ‘Conceited’ is released to the world. It’s hard to believe it’s been an entire year since the release of our debut single, being released at the very beginning of the first lockdown and during the beginning of a very strange and dark time. The track succeeded our expectations, surpassing 1k streams in 5 days, 2k in the first week, and 5k in under 3 weeks. The track has now surpassed 9k streams on Spotify, and to everyone who has streamed and downloaded the track, we are incredibly grateful and would like to thank you all! 1: One day into lockdown, and one day before ‘Conceited’ was set to be released to the world, the ‘Conceited’ charity fundraiser was set up to accompany the single, raising money for the NHS Charities Together. 2: On this day one year ago, Prime Minister Boris Johnson announces lockdown rules to the UK, instructing the British public that they must stay at home, except for certain "very limited purposes.” All non-essential shops, libraries, places of worship, playgrounds and outdoor gyms are closed. As the release of ‘Conceited’ comes closer, life feels drastically different from the beginning of the recording sessions, from all being in the same room together recording, seeing friends popping in and out of recording sessions, travelling to and from college daily, and discussing doing live shows. Our debut single was set to be released in truly strange and dark times.

3: Towards the end of 2020, Tyler got in touch with @jasoncordingleymusic regarding possibly airplay on his radio show. Exchanging emails back and forward, Jason kindly offered to do a remix for us, an offer in which we happily accepted! The remix of ‘Conceited’ was announced on 8th December 2020, and was premiered on Jason’s radio show the same night, before being released ourselves the following day! Speaking about the remix in a radio interview with Tyler, Jason said he didn’t expect the response he received: ‘I’ll be honest I didn’t expect you to say yes, so when you did it was like “Oh okay! I’ve obviously kinda dropped myself in it here, I’m gonna have to do what I said I will do!”’ Jason has a new radio show on Emerging Rock Bands, called @erbthelaunchpad, a show primarily focused on unsigned bands. 5: One year ago yesterday, schools and colleges shut due to COVID-19 restrictions, ending our course early and also putting an end to our recording sessions. Luckily, both ‘Conceited’ and ‘Evelyn’ were finished, and ready to be released as singles.

6: On this day one year ago, we announced our debut single ‘Conceited’ ! 🤘🏼 Upon receiving the mixes from Flow Audio, vocalist Tyler contacted the other members of the band. After everyone had listened, we uploaded the track and artwork to be made live on all major streaming platforms. Following this we made a social media post announcing the single, with a link to hear a preview of the track, as well as pre-save on Spotify! 7: On this day one year ago, we posted a photo taken at a recording session, captioned ‘In strange and confusing times, here is a photo of our drummer Paul Piggott repping one of our new stickers at the end of our recording session today. You’re welcome.’ On this same day, Cinema chains Odeon, Cineworld, Vue and Picturehouse announce they will be closing all their UK outlets, in response to the advice to avoid visiting such venues in response to COVID-19.

9: On this day one year ago, Prime Minister Boris Johnson says that everyone in the UK should avoid "non-essential" travel and contact with others to curb coronavirus - as the country's death toll hit 55. The PM said people should work from home where possible, and that pregnant women, people over the age of 70 and those with certain health conditions should consider the advice "particularly important". Discussing the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the band with @voiceartguy on his New STARZ Podcast, @tylerquantrill18 said: ‘It was a bit frustrating in a way, because we had gone a little bit quiet for a couple of weeks whilst we wrote stuff and everything, and recorded, and we was like “Well okay, we’ll get these recorded, and then play them live.”’

10: On this day, @tylerquantrill18 posts a photo of one of the new Undamaged Destiny stickers alongside stickers of many amazing local bands, such as @krysthla_band and @siderianuk, on a hand dryer at @blackprincenn in Northampton, captioned ‘Wash your hands!!’ On this same day, Health Secretary Matt Hancock says that every UK resident over the age of 70 will be told "within the coming weeks" to self-isolate for "a very long time" to shield them from coronavirus.

12: On this day one year ago, we posted two more updates from the studio, with an image of @tylerquantrill18 tracking vocals, and another short video, again posted in negative colour, titled ‘EVLN1332020’. Tyler also posted this photo to his Instagram, captioned ‘My own creation’, continuing to tease our soon to be second single ‘Evelyn’, following ‘Conceited’.

13: On this day one year ago, we got evacuated whilst setting up to record the drums for ‘Evelyn’ after the fire alarm went off. Speaking with @voiceartguy on his New STARZ Podcast, @tylerquantrill18 said this about the day: ‘It almost was like something out of a mockumentary film, we hit the very first note and the fire alarm went off and I just remember running down the stairs, like me and Paul are jogging down the stairs, and I just remember coming back up and the room was just chaos and we was like “Quick! We’ve lost loads of time, quickly record something before we leave”’

14: The cover artwork for ‘Conceited’ was taken at our debut show at @theprinceofwales666 in Kettering, on 12th December 2019. Looking back on the artwork a year on, @tylerquantrill18 says: ‘I think the artwork for ‘Conceited’ works really well for the single. It’s in black and white, it’s darkened and blurry and so it still keeps the songs theme of betrayal, as well as showing us performing music together, which I like as ‘Conceited’ really sums up everything we do, as it captures that essence of us four guys in a room playing loud music. I think the cover almost has a really slight feeling of mystery to it too, as we are mostly blurred figures. It definitely keeps the songs theme in the image with its darkness. I think the white version for the @jasoncordingleymusic mix also works really well, as it still looks really bleak with its lack of colour, but puts a totally different spin on the artwork. I love how well the ‘Conceited’ artwork contrasts with the artwork for our second single ‘Evelyn’, which is a super bright and vibrant cover, they just look so different next to each other and that was super cool when releasing the singles.’

15: On this day one year ago, we recorded the narration piece heard on our second single ‘Evelyn’. Also on this day, we recorded an intro for the planned EP mentioned in the previous post. Discussing the initial plans and how the COVID-19 pandemic affected the band with @voiceartguy on his New STARZ Podcast, @tylerquantrill18 said the plan was to ‘Write new year, get some new stuff done and then go out and gig with all new material’ Going into detail about the writing process on the podcast, Tyler said: ‘By this point we had ‘Evelyn’ done and we had another track which was pretty much done and that was quite different and it was super cool (‘Swing Song for a Swan Song’), and we was like “Well yeah we are pretty much ready to get out and gig again” and this was the time where the pandemic was really starting to take off, and it became clear that venues and stuff were going to be closing very soon.’

18: 'Conceited' was the first song we wrote together, the first time we all got in a room together as a band, whilst preparing for the performance in the Television Studio at our college for the 'Geazer: Montage of Feck' (2019) mockumentary, where 'Conceited' was premiered. Covering the themes of betrayal and change, the straight to the point lyrics of 'Conceited' is complimented by gritty grunge rock guitar riffs and a catchy, simple and effective chorus. When discussing ‘Conceited’ with @voiceartguy on his New STARZ podcast, guitarist @screw_you_username said: ‘I had written Conceited, I wrote lyrics to it around about the April that year (2019)’, he added, ‘Around that time I wrote it and wrote some lyrics to go with it, and it was called ‘Conceited’ then, but then I think we kinda threw those lyrics in the trash around the time we formed a band together and realised that I had no concept of syllable spaces and that, and it was all very tight, like no room to breathe whilst singing it, so I just went “screw it, Tyler...”’ Speaking about the writing of the track with @austenmathieson on his Suburban Context show on @rtm.fm, vocalist @tylerquantrill18 said: ‘When that song came about, it was the first proper time we got in a room together (as a band), and Eoan had the name ‘Conceited’ and the riffs, and I just improvised over the top, and I managed to come up with the chorus, and a rough verse. The verses were totally rewritten but the chorus stayed exactly the same. ‘Conceited’ was one of those lightning in a bottle moments that we managed to capture the first time we got in a room together. It changed a little bit, we fine tuned it, the riffs swapped around a little bit, but at the end of the day the same concept was there and the same principle was there, and ‘Conceited’ is just one of those tracks that we was just super proud of because it was a lightning in a bottle moment, and yeah it was really cool.’
