With a name like Samson you would think this big boy was the playground bully, but that's not the case!! Samson has a heart bigger than his tongue! Working with rescues is a process. It takes patience, love, kindness, treats, toys and lots of hugs and kisses. Some of the dogs, like Yotti, have been through a lot of trauma. Somewhere along the way they have suffered abuse at the hands of a human which creates huge trust issues. Brandie and I literally sat in the middle of the road with Yotti to give her time to warm up to me and the unknown environment. Not wanting to stress her out by trying to force her into the studio I decided to photograph Yotti outside where she seemed more at ease. This sweet, sweet girl is a special case. She is looking for someone with lots of patience who will provide the safe environment she needs and help her learn that not all humans are bad. This week has been one of those weeks. Mamas, you know the kind. Appointments, a wild toddler, a clingy baby – it feels like I just can’t get anything done. But as I sit in the nursery tonight struggling through the to-do list that didn’t get touched today, I feel the Lord reminding me of the things I did touch. I touched brightly colored tutus as I helped my toddler put them on to dance around. I touched chunky little cheeks as my baby wiggled around and smiled up at her mama. I touched pages of a book as we sat together and read The ABCs of Kindness for the third time today. I touched the softest baby skin as I zipped up pjs after a bedtime bath. And at the end of what feels like the craziest, least productive day, I hope I never forget how valuable those little touches really are. 🤍
