The American master conceptual artist, Allan McCollum (1944), lives and works in New York where he moved in 1975 from his hometown, Los Angeles. He took part in the Whitney Biennial of 1975 and the Venice Biennials of 1988 and 2012. His works are part of the collections of over seventy among the most prestigious museums worldwide, including the Centre Pompidou in Paris; the MoMA, the Whitney Museum of American Art, the Guggenheim Museum, and the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York; the MAMCO in Geneva; the Rivoli Castle in Turin. Jannis Kounellis (1936 Piraeus, Greece - 2017 Rome, Italy), has collaborated with Galleria Fumagalli since 2003. During his studies in Rome, stimulated by the teaching of Toti Scialoja, he approached the American Abstract Expressionism and the European Informel. Originally emerging as a painter, from the Sixties, Jannis Kounellis started to present his work in the exhibitions organized in the context of Arte Povera, founded by Germano Celant in 1967. Many are the prestigious institutions that exhibited his artworks, such as: Magazzino Italian Art, Cold Spring, New York; Fondazione Prada, Venice; Guggenheim Museum, Bilbao; MAC-USP, Sao Paulo; MoMA, New York; Musée d’Orsay, Paris; Neue Nationalgalerie, Berlin; GNAM, Rome; PAC, Milan; Castello di Rivoli, Turin; MAC, Montréal; MCA, Chicago. Chiara Lecca (1977, Modigliana), who has been collaborating with Galleria Fumagalli since 2008, founded Clarulecis Collective in 2020 and in 2016 she was selected among the finalists of the XVII Cairo Prize and exhibited at Palazzo Reale, Milan. Her artworks have been exhibited in various institutions in Italy and Europe: in 2019 she was artist in residence at MACRO Asilo in Rome, in 2018 at the Italian Cultural Institute in Madrid, in 2012 in the county Kassel for EUARCA – International European Art Camp, and in 2008 at the Fondazione Spinola Banna per l’Arte Art, in Turin. Solo exhibitions were held for example in Ghisla Art Collection Foundation, Locarno (2016) and Naturkundemuseum Ottoneum, Kassel (2015). Repost from @mariavittoriabaravelli Ieri sera non potevo non passare da Annamaria, alla Galleria Fumagalli. @galleriafumagalli Non avevo ancora visto di persona l’opera che Jannis Kounellis aveva realizzato per la sua galleria nel 2009. Una parete di capi scuri. Cappotto muti, cappotti vuoti che rimandano ai corpi distrutti dai totalitarismi del 900’. Esistenze appese con i ganci dei macellai. Mi interessa sempre molto la dimensione tragica di Kounellis, che è ben diversa dal dramma che considerava “borghese”. 🖤Eppure in tutto quel nero, c’è sempre qualcosa di poetico, una rete di relazione segrete che non chiudono l’opera ma la rendono aperta e viva. Opere che aprono una forma di dialogo non convenzionale, forse provocatorio sicuramente liberatorio. Ieri sera non potevo non passare da Annamaria, alla Galleria Fumagalli. @galleriafumagalli Non avevo ancora visto di persona l’opera che Jannis Kounellis aveva realizzato per la sua galleria nel 2009. Una parete di capi scuri. Cappotto muti, cappotti vuoti che rimandano ai corpi distrutti dai totalitarismi del 900’. Esistenze appese con i ganci dei macellai. Mi interessa sempre molto la dimensione tragica di Kounellis, che è ben diversa dal dramma che considerava “borghese”. 🖤Eppure in tutto quel nero, c’è sempre qualcosa di poetico, una rete di relazione segrete che non chiudono l’opera ma la rendono aperta e viva. @annamaria_maggi has invited Lóránd Hegyi – Hungarian art historian, writer and curator, who has directed major European museums over the years – to conceive a series of exhibitions for the project “MY30YEARS - Coherency in Diversity”. Speaking of the exhibitions, the curator explains: «The project is focusing on Annamaria Maggi’s thirty-year work at Galleria Fumagalli while intending to emphasize some significant elements of the gallery’s aesthetic orientation and its coherent vision of art. It is not our intention to give neither a summary-like presentation of the past thirty years, nor any chronologically structured, philologically elaborated documentation about Galleria Fumagalli’s activity. Armellin creates photographic images of natural and seemingly desert landscapes, made at the same time fictitious and real thanks to their photographic nature. @eccemattiabosco reintroduces in new forms the precious marble used in Roman architecture of the imperial age in the remains of the ancient temple. The artist wants to evoke the sensation of something removed of ancient inhabitants who return with different guises, revealing, however, by their way of inhabiting the space. Sustainability is a fundamental element in Bosco’s practice. He creates his sculptures from stones and boulders discarded from extraction because they lack a shape suitable for commercialization. @luigipensa (2001) is influenced by conceptual art, his work ranges from product and furniture design to ceramic sculpture, fashion and industrial design. Kόrai, Mattia Bosco’s solo exhibition, is open to the public until Sunday 14 January 2024, in the evocative spaces of the Colosseum Archaeological Park, Rome. Kόrai is born from 12 marble sculptures conceived specifically for the spaces of the Temple of Venus and Rome, the largest Temple in ancient Rome, inaugurated in 136 A.D. This Temple is coated in precious marbles from all parts of the empire, plundered over the centuries and only partially preserved today.
