Down Under By Law is an Australian compilation of Sydney-side Hip Hop crews. Released in early 1988, this is a real curio. If you like drum machine-era hip hop this cuts the mustard in places. It struggles to establish an Australian identity but its worth a listen if you are under the illusion that hip hop on wax was exclusive to the USA and Europe in the 80s This features a vocal appearance by LA rapper Rodney O on a track by former Australian DMC champion, Drew Muirhead. Sereck aka Unique, is a hip hop legend throughout Australia and internationally. Sereck is of course, part of legendary crew Def Wish Cast. Their distinct Australian sound helped gain the crew notoriety both locally and internationally through graffiti mags. Def Wish Cast embrace not only the music, but all elements of the hip hop culture, including graffiti art and breaking. Sereck was also an MC in hip hop crew “Celsius” Sereck began performing onstage in 1990, and releasing music in 1992 and has ever since, touring the country many times.
