Dr. Beatrice Beebe on infant-mother/caretaker communication. Please see following photos. Dr. Beatrice Beebe should be a well known household name for her research and contribution to the understanding of how babies relate and how important it is for mother - the usual primary other - to know how to understand the baby’s distress and ways of communicating. “Baby needs to be recognized in both positive and distress moments …adults also depend on our partners responding to us in our different emotional states and babies are just like us. “ “Finding some way to join the baby in the distress - key is to recognize and empathize with baby’s distress. “ In the first months a pattern will be established which will influence the baby’s attachment style and internal self and other regulation. This talk is so rich that I hope everyone who sees this post will take the time to watch it. I had the joy of meeting Dr. Beebe several years ago and learning this early on. It influenced my way of doing treatment. She and Frank Lachman, another teacher, have written on this research. These books are worth getting. If there is a baby in your life you will be delighted. Anyone else in your life will benefit. The pictures in the video are not the actual research subjects which confidentiality protects. #beatricebeebe #infantresearch #motherinfantbonding #howbabiescommunicate #babiesdistress #babiesemotionaldevelopment #regulatingdistress #youtube #decodingthenonverballanguageofbabies #newmothers #babiesfeelings #newborns #postpartumdepressionandbaby #talkingtoyourbaby
