As some I know, I am a big advocate for @capritools , especially their impact sockets. Finished my setup with their 3/8 stubby and 1/4 in drive master sets. Dry as a bone, sealed up nicely with the speedmaster timing cover @barefoot5224 turned me onto this company as a viable supplier since my iron one couldn't seal properly due to crank snout difference. Tried it and found its not feasible to use an iron cover off a medium duty 429. Pair this cover with a @tuffstuffperformance water pump USA made and you got a quality setup. Very pleased with how it turned out. Went with a Tuff Stuff starter bolt in no wiring converting necessary jus like the water pump is tuff stuff. 2 blots and the main wire which I had to open the eyelet a bit with a step bit. Says on the site it's for up to 77 but fits my 87 just fine. Also uses a koyo main bearing as stamped which i also had good luck with. Starts up nice and crisp and no hanging granted its a mostly stock 460 minus a few upgrades. So now between the AC delco 3g alternator which ive had good luck with they'reremanufactured stuff thru the years, tuff stuff USA component's, shouldn't have issues in the starting and charging realm. Time for another phase. Replace cheap throwout bearing with quality one. Since keeping the 4 speed officially, she's gonna be a little more well refreshed than just input shaft seal. Going to go back over a couple things I did that I wasn't happy how they turned out but I ventured off in the try it direction and while it worked ima do what I know works 100%. Not mad nor annoyed other than at the cheap throwout bearing. Weather is nice so I got that going and not in a hurry. Another set of @latemodelresto bosch mustang injectors going in the 302. They are my new go to for quality USA remanufactured injectors after amazing results. If anything like the 351 work truck, they will effectively be an upgrade to the current set and much needed and the current set are leaking down. Been dealing with an extended crank long restart over fueling condition for quite some time. Now since fixing the tank selector issue the only thing next is AC in time. For the 351, I will need to address the same fuel selector issue keeping the rear tank from not returning to the front. What happened was on both they effectively sold modules for a single tank truck without a check valve. Learned that the hard way after some part cross reference. I'm usually a simple practical type with enhancements but this is a company that deserves to be represented especially providing probably the most refined steering kit for old body Fords with 85-97 dana 60 front axles which I have almost 5k miles on already. Inverted the table lift handle, put the t19 on its side, rolled her under, stood her up right and she went in well. Next up is transfer case and center support bearing. I also repinned the shifter and no more slop. Gonna freshen up the oiling system a bit. Got the ford performance 460 pan kit with new pickup, 1 piece gasket, dip stick. Also a new m84d pump and 460 efi guys mounts. Gonna drop the transmission/transfer case to get more lift of the engine to enable easy fishing the stuff out. It's carbureted so should get a tad more room of lift. Got my new Brunt work boots yesterday and so today was a full day of wearing them. Have to say yesterday when I first put them on I wasnât as impressed it seems as everyone else has been. I donât know maybe they have to be worn to get used to wearing them, the day way a busy and heavy day, I forgot that I had new work boots on for a while even had to do a couple long walks today. By the time I got home I was pretty happy with them and I know itâs going to take more than just one day. Customers 87 gmc 1500 truck came in crank no start with suspect on the fueling. The GM TBI pulsed fuel but not spark. A good old multimeter pointed me to the pickup coil so replaced that and a new coil that had weak signal. Bypassed computer to put in timing mode, dropped her in, timed her and she fired. Nothing crazy to note, just driving her but I did clean up some overdue wiring mess especially on the driver side. No more fused links or spaghetti of inline fuses to the solenoid. Purchased a marine water tight fuse block from Bluesea and tied the 3g alternator into 1 of its AMI fuse holders using a 170 Amp and the the 2 higher current draw connections with a 40 amp to include the headlight relay hot. Then blade fuses to a plug for the rest. Been meaning to do so for over a year. She did over 300 miles this week, moreso than usual. Couldn't leave tonight without getting my daily dose of carbs. The daily driver 460 saga continues. Got her snappy now. Slowed my secondary transition down and increased the discharge nozzle a bit and threw in some gflt alcohol resistant gaskets. Blue printing this electric choke converted @holleyperformance 1850-C to a mostly stock #460bigblock has proved interesting. Highly recommend these as a daily driver carburetor. Installed my @sbfilters cab mounts on the truck finally. What a ride difference and no more squeaking. Before it felt like I was riding on treated lumber with how hard the original mounts were. The install tools are amazing. Funny thing @oreillyautoparts had these on the shelf and I was about to order them but they had them cheaper than online. Few people my age would know what these are for but when ur at the tuning point I am with my @holleyperformance 1850-C , it's all about the fine adjustments now. I got a perfect color on my plugs after putting the new set in last night after the initial tuning stages. It's all fine adjustments from here. 1 more mini mod for the old #460bigblock. Installed the last Ethanol resistant piece of my fuel systemto make it sustainablefor modern fuels like i did the carburetor. A @quickfueltechnology GFLT diaphragm fits a @holleyperformance 12-803bp bypass regulator . Retain the holley spring and dimple washer and back off the set screw and the screw holes all line up. I never heard of this being done as this piece is marketed for quickfuel bypass regulator but it indeed works and I have same consistent fuel pressure and drove it home with no issues. Got my custom made in USA fan from @deere346 . Going to be a nice edition as I revamp the HD cooling system and being in the south where Temps can reach 100 on occasion, I don't expect cooling issues even with the AC running while towing. For all the IDI and 460 owners, this is a great addition to move more air across the engine. Now this is a great example of a person that is I need of @boltlock. He is keeping his stuff locked I just hope he doesnât lose the keys, especially two keys when he could be using just one key, the key to his truck! That way when he needs to make a change or find the keys there is no hunting around to find keys. Trailer light and brake fused control box is done, installed and functional as planned. Now I have a my trailering system completed and fused separate from the truck and the box is water tight. The second plug is for the receptacle in the bed. Used a fuse block and water tight connectors too mated into factory harness.
