My best liked post so far is one from last month, a Bentley Flying Spur of the present generation. Will this 2006 Bentley Continental Flying Spur 🇬🇧 get picked up as well? Probably not. Ah well, who cares, as long as you and I are enjoying this 560 hp 6 litre W12 super saloon. I had to park in a spot reserved for medical doctors - which I am not - to get next to it. A few days later I spotted this same Bentley where an X350 XJ6 used to be, I wonder if this could be the replacement. If so: very worthy indeed. And funny that the engine is exactly twice the size of the 3 litre V6. (The Jaguar didn't change owners though. Second car maybe? The last time I was at Schiphol Airport, I parked the Jaguar next to a Urus. This time it's a 2016-2020 Bentley Bentayga Speed 🇬🇧. Do you see the pattern here? Is it a Speed though? The Belgian vanity plates suggest as much - although this could also be business related - and I think it says 'Speed' on the front left door. So that would make the engine a 635 hp 6 litre twin-turbo W12. It's a pre-facelift. Is it just me or does the black paint make it look kind of dull? Either way: I love Bentleys in general, but I don't even really like the Bentayga. I think this grey 2021 Bentley Flying Spur V8 🇬🇧 next to the Jaguar is a car of breathtaking beauty, but it would be so much more spectacular in a striking colour, like British Racing Green, or Radium, or Orange Flame. Why have silver when you can have Orange Flame? I mean: Orange Flame? Hello? The engine of service however is not at all boring: it's a 549 hp 4 litre V8. It doesn't say how fast it goes and stuff like that. Fast enough, I'm sure. Two 20 year old British gentlemen side by side: next to the Jaguar is a magnificent 2003 Bentley Arnage T 🇬🇧. It's no Shadow like yesterday but still very desirable indeed. I was really really really REALLY hoping to be able to properly park next to this magnificent 1997 Bentley Continental T 🇬🇧 at the Autotron Oldtimer Beurs three weeks ago. I made some crappy pictures with the Jaguar behind it just in case it wouldn't work out the way I wanted to because I just could not let this one get away. Anyway, hours went by, I was sitting in my car, eating my sandwiches and waiting for one of the cars parked next to it to finally leave when I saw - and heard - the mighty Brit pull out of the parking space and gently drive off. Parting is such sweet sorrow. So here are the crappy pictures. The mighty turbo powered 6.75 litre V8 delivers 405 horsepower but I bet the Bentley is twice as heavy as my Jaguar. This is a 2005 Bentley Continental GT 🇬🇧 in a very beautiful, very dark shade of blue. (It's a little dirty but so is the Jaguar. Oh, and @mtc__90 tells me it's Dark Sapphire.) I've always had a soft spot for the 'classic' Conti GT, its infinite style combined with chubbiness and vulgarity. I think the twenty year old design is pretty timeless, hands up if you agree. The impressive 6 litre W12 engine puts out 560 horsepower. Top speed is 323 km/h and 0 to 100 takes 4.8 seconds. It looks like there's a problem with the air suspension in the front. I'm not entirely sure, but I think I heard my Jaguar guy say the suspension on my Jaguar is similar to that of the Bentley. This 1962 Bentley S2 🇬🇧 next to the Jaguar is an absolute dream. What a beautiful car. I think it's the first Bentley - together with the Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud II - fitted with the legendary Rolls-Royce–Bentley L-series V8 engine. Back then it was a 6.25 litre (6,230 cc) and I believe it's been a 6.75 litre since 1968. Basically I drive a Jaguar because a Bentley is too big for the parking space in front of my house. And, being a poor school teacher, because I can't afford about twice the amount of petrol. I think it's stylish, and if you don't agree, you might consider the possibility that you're suffering from black and white thinking. I think red metallic looks really good on this magnificent 2001 Bentley Arnage Red Label 🇬🇧. The good old 6.75 litre V8 in this beauty delivers 405 horsepower and brings the mastodon to a stunning (limited) 249 km/h, which is almost as fast as the Jaguar, although accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h takes about a second longer. But hey, who cares, it's a Bentley and it's heavy as a house. The Arnage, on the market since 1998, was originally fitted with a 4.4 litre BMW V8, but the old V8 - used by Bentley and Rolls-Royce since 1959 and continued until 2020 in the Mulsanne - returned in 1999. Let's nog forget the 1984 Volkswagen T3 🇩🇪 pick-up in the background, on Dutch plates since 2011. According to the RDW website, the model name is 245.
