My favourite type of booking is one that says they were guests at a wedding and they liked the way I worked, and loved the photos after. "Necessity is the mother of invention" In 2011, I was made redundant from my full time job as a Graphic Designer. Jobs were thin on the ground in Waterford at that time so I decided to try my hand at photography. I had a 550D and had done a small amount of product photography. A friend of mine, Sarah Jane, was renting a studio space, where she did makeover parties and often needed a photographer to do portraits of the ladies who attended. I used that to hone my skills and spread the word that I was available as a photographer. I photographed everything from gigs, to kids birthday parties, I even photographed an engagement for “My Big Fat Gypsy Wedding” TV show. My first wedding was for Sarah & Thibault, in France, in French, but that’s a story for another day. Needless to say, after that wedding, I was hooked. I ran a competition for someone to win their wedding photography and the rest is history. 12 years on, my style has changed but I still love going to weddings every week and meeting new people. Will I still be doing it in 12 years time?
