📷 & ✍️ by @unrwa On 26 February 2018, staff and beneficiaries of seven Community-Based Rehabilitation Centres (CBRC) across Gaza which provide educational and other services to persons with disabilities assembled in front of the main gate of the UNRWA Gaza Field Office. In solidarity with the Agency and fearing the severe consequences of a reduction in services due to lack of funding, this especially vulnerable group of refugees demanded respect for their right to live in dignity and called for supporting UNRWA to ensure their continued access to quality education and health services.

In his engagement with media, Mr. Schmale focused in particular on the Agency’s financial situation and the implications on the lives of Palestine refugees in Gaza in line with UNRWA’s commitment to convey the plight of Palestine refugees to the international community.
📷 & ✍️ by @unrwa On 31 January, UNRWA launched an appeal for its 2018 emergency programmes of over US$ 800 million for the Syria regional crisis and the occupied Palestinian territory (oPt). In Gaza, UNRWA will require US$ 354 million to address urgent priority humanitarian needs of Palestine refugees, including through the distribution of food baskets, the provision of temporary work opportunities, emergency health and education, as well as shelter. In the coastal enclave, the political and security situation remains volatile, with the land, air and sea blockade now in its eleventh year. Employment opportunities are stifled by the blockade – the unemployment rate in Gaza remains among the highest rates worldwide – and almost 1 million Palestine refugees are dependent on emergency food assistance, a tenfold increase on the 100,000 that required such support in 2000. Three and a half years on from the 2014 hostilities, which caused unprecedented destruction and loss of life, 2,500 Palestine refugee families remain displaced, and repairs to almost 50,000 homes remain outstanding.

The opening of the documentary will be through the lens of a camera intent on filming the images of the fiction film Roll, establishing the theme of the story and point of view. To accompany the images, interviews will be carried out by the producers and cast of the feature film who will give us their point of view about the eternal state of conflict between Israel & Palestine and in particular the motivations in addressing the subject by telling the story through the experiences of young teenagers.
The second act will transport the audience on a journey that will retrace the main stages of the period from 28 September 2000, the beginning of the second Intifada, up to the present day, passing through 2005, the year in which the break was definitive with the removal of the Israeli settlers by Israeli military troops led by Ariel Sharon. In this segment of the film, we will give voice to the organizations intended on promoting the integration of the two opposing factions, while other characters will be interviewed giving their direct experiences before and after Sharon's wall. The drama of the story will be about how children are forced to face the incessant state of war and hatred day after day. How, they are often forced to become human weapons to accommodate those who have the political aspect as their only priority.
The third act of the documentary will exclusively tell about how children under 17 in the Gaza Strip live today. We will follow children from the refugee camps in Jerusalem and in the many settlements along the Israeli coast. We will tell the dreams and hopes of children who have been forced in spite of themselves to live in a constant state of madness and who despite everything, retain and cultivate passions similar to their peers who live in less oppressed parts of the world. Passions such as those for sport, for example surfing, skateboarding, parkour, football ... As well as the desire to study, learn if only to get to know a reality different from theirs. The film wants to close the story with a note of positivity and hope for a future where these unfortunate human beings can coexist and overcome misunderstandings, fears that have lasted for millennia.
