Marketing is weird. It’s this combination of creative and data-driven work that is essentially rooted in psychology, but is a business discipline. You’re constantly having to make educated guesses about what other people will think of your work and how your client will be seen. You overthink about every little caption, email subject line, and post. There are no right answers, but there are a million wrong ones. It’s a combination of a strong attention to detail and complete luck. Yeah, it’s weird - and it’s no wonder people in the industry are so prone to imposter syndrome and burnout. When there is no clear manual on how to do your job, how can you ever really feel like you’re doing it right? How do you know results couldn’t be improved had you used different words or a different colour? It’s funny like that. It’s hard. I have so much respect for the people in this profession. If you’re feeling confused and unsure at your job, you aren’t alone. We all are. Marketers are good at making it look easy. But those wins, those big wins that make an impact - they’re worth it and they’re out there. Marketing helps you see the world in a whole new way, and I wouldn’t trade what I’ve learned on this path for anything. My favourite lesson? ✨ 10 random facts about me ✨ ➡️ I grew up a competitive swimmer, but I would still join every school sports team and play (badly) ➡️ On that note... I’ve broken 5 bones (all except 1 were from sports) ➡️ My hometown is Victoria, BC (I lived there until I was 16).
