Happy World Stationery Day to all my paper loving peeps! Oh you know who you are! If you aren’t sure, here is how you tell. You have a drawer full of stationery in your home that you refuse to use because “it’s way too pretty”; the “look” of a stack of paper make you giddy and you have a monthly budget set aside for greeting card purchases! We know your kind well, and we love you! 💌🐦⬛
I was once terrified of dragonflies (bad childhood memory), but now I love when I cross paths with these crazy cool bugs! They sparkle, they dance and they seem to love cottaging as much as I do! Fun Fact: A single dragonfly can eat anywhere between 30 and hundreds of mosquitoes per day! Dragonfly mug - $8.99 each
Today is pink shirt day! I do not have a pink shirt but I do have a shirt that helps raise awareness about bullying! Today and everyday, do the nice thing! There is enough room on this big beautiful planet for everyone! @calling.crow.communications is a Bully Free Zone! Everyone is welcome!
We apologize for any inconvenience our relocation may cause you. As we transition into our new space, our shop and studio hours may change a bit while we get settled in. You can order items and cards easily for pickup via callingcrow.ca SHOP! We will be working hard to get the new location set up for you to come visit as quickly as possible; but in the meantime please take advantage of our website!
Cottages are a special place during every season, but there is nothing like drinking coco by the fire in Northern Ontario, surrounded by snowy evergreens, playing Scrabble with time to kill. I don’t have a cottage of my own but I know how special the memories made at in these homes away from home can be! So, cheers to cottages and to today’s Monday Sketch! Have a happy holiday season! To purchase our hand poured soy candle scent “Cottage Memories” hit the link in today’s story.

KNOCK KNOCK! I know the @calling.crow.communications instagram feed may sometimes seem like it's all "fun and games", which is totally cool with me! It turns out working hard can also be fun! Sometimes the only way to make an impact is to crack a couple of knock knock jokes! Adding humour to our feed is all part of the fun of working at CC! I do however want to connect on a serious note from time to time. It is important to communicate what I offer, and keep both sides of CC in check. As much as stationery and graphic design tie together nicely, I still have to address both aspects of the business individually. This can be tricky for creating content, but I work hard to make sure the messages you receive are informative and engaging. Fingers crossed the message is clear! Thank you for reading, laughing and joining me on this platform! Without further ado, here is a brief encounter on who I am and what I do. After graduating from Conestoga College for Small Business Development, and George Brown College for Graphic Design - with a major in Advertising Design (with honours), I hit the pavement as a freelance graphic designer. I have over 25 years of experience in a variety of sectors, and have had the privilege of working with many talented people teaching me a long the way. I value the lessons learned and I am very proud of my accomplishments, but also know there is still tons to learn and the world is forever evolving in the land of technology. "Pulling up my socks" is a regular part of my routine and adapting my skills and seeking out new challenges is constant. Prior to Calling Crow, I worked as a corporate graphic designer for a variety of companies. I started Calling Crow in 2015 and have since established freelance design relationships with over 150 businesses in Ontario and across Canada. In 2019 the CC retail stationery shop and freelance design studio opened in @stjacobsvillage , where I am currently a member of the local BIA. I specializes in visual branding strategies and production design. I work with companies that range in size and experience, in a variety of sectors. Reach out at [email protected] if you need a freelancer like me!
Ever wonder where the term “once in a blue moon” comes from? The term blue moon refers to the occurrence of a second full moon within a calendar month. Tonight’s blue moon is extra special because it will also be a "Super Moon," a popular term for a full moon that occurs when our natural satellite is closer to Earth, making it appear slightly larger in the sky. This will be the last Super Blue Moon until 2037. Tonight’s moon will be the biggest and brightest full moon of the year so check it out!! 🌕

Today I reluctantly decided to check out Adobe Express and try my hand at using their Adobe Firefly generative AI. I’ll be honest anything new makes me nervous to try but I had some fun with it for sure! Of course birds were on my brain when I took the plunge. It took me a while to create a crow I actually liked but the robin that emerged from my text to image description was pretty darn cute, so I’ll give Adobe a shoutout for that. I’m not exactly sure how I am going to make AI work for me quite yet but I have to say it is a pretty amazing tool and I can’t wait to explore more!

Anyone who knows me well, knows that Scotland is at the top of my bucket list travel destinations - so I was thrilled to find out this original CC handmade (Giant Hogweed) is on its way there with it’s new forever family! At least I can say a piece of me made it there!! 🏴❤️
Can I just brag about our coop student for a minute? @nolan_bridge is one impressive guy! Not only has he already graduated from @elmira_lancers but instead of practicing his badminton swing all spring, he decided to get extra credit by doing a coop placement with CC in preparation for his first year as a design student @conestogacollege Nolan is dedicated and ready to tackle the design projects he has been given daily. He is always ready to learn and always delivers!! As I watched him squirt his work station with cleaner today (without being asked), I thought to myself, this kid is awesome!! Unfortunately his time with CC will be coming to an end soon and he will be missed. If you come in to see us over the next couple of weeks, be sure to say hi to him and wish him luck! Not that he is going to need it!
