The Rammstein keyboardist followed up with a long, humorous text about evolution and music, how you want to capture a feeling even though you can't photograph a song, and how the musicians often aren't even beautiful people - but they are still the ones who made wonderful music. «This is probably what motivates photographers when they haul musicians in front of the camera», Flake wrote. «They want to find that special something about them and make it visible. In an interview with Nordkurier, Christian "Flake" Lorenz talks about the music he made for the documentary about the 1. FC Union Berlin soccer team. Here are some interesting things he said in the interview: - Flake had no idea that the team anthem's opening monologue is backed by the "Rammstein" intro, before it segues into Nina Hagen's song "Eisern Union". - Flake initially mistook the Rammstein song for a technical issue. "I fell into the food. (...) I had come to the stadium as a guest and suddenly the music started. I thought, what's broken now? I thought, I've made it now. That's all I can achieve as a musician", he said. - The Rammstein bandmembers were unaware of the use of the song but found it cool when Flake told them about it. - Rammstein watches football together when on tour, especially during major tournaments like the World Cup or European Championship. - Flake admitted, that Rammstein once started a concert later because there was an extra time. "The fans had to wait a bit, which was a bit mean of us." - Flake revealed that Rammstein tried to compose a soccer song, but nothing came of it. "If you try to force something, it rarely works." - When asked why Rammstein wanted to compose a soccer song, Flake said: "We thought it would be nice if our songs were sung in the soccer stadium." - Flake ruled out that the song will be released at some point. "No, songs can spoil just as much as fish soup, and for me Union has more magic than a national team.", he said.
