Next stop on our journey and in keeping with the theme of "13", we stopped at @bay13brewery in Coral Gables. Touted as Miami's first "Aussie" brewpub, our interests and expectations were instantly piqued. (We all know there is a certain mystique when you mention Australia.) Walking up to the establishment, we opted to enjoy their enormous, well-designed outdoor patio. This is a beautiful space to experience when the Florida weather acts appropriately, and thankfully, this day was gorgeous. We decided to order some food along with our flight, but we're not very confident in recommending since the wait time was long and the food came out slightly colder than expected. Sadly, they only had one server covering the patio area, but we are not here to discuss the food. Let's bring on the BEER! *German Chocolate Cake (Foreign Extra Stout) - Wow! Dark chocolate and coffee, with a bit of coconut, what else could we want! Solid body and great taste, but ironically, this one didn't completely win us over, but it still was great! #darkside ❤ *Campfire Song (Foreign Extra Stout) - Winner, winner! Chicken dinner! ❤❤❤ This beer was exactly as you could imagine a s'more being liquified into a stout. Amazing flavors, solid color, and body made this one an easy winner for us! *Old Man (Hefeweizen) - What you would come to expect to be a good, solid classic wheat beer. Nice flavor, but the body and color were a bit off. *Mango Drive (Witbier) - Hmm, a mango witbier. Yes, we tried it, but it didn't set off any smoke alarms. *Next stop on our South Florida adventure, @magic13brewing! Don't be fooled by the unassuming entrance, this brewery has quite a lot to offer once you get past the black minimalist exterior! First off, the "free" ample parking lot is enough (it's like hitting the lottery in Miami)! Secondly, they host a wide range of community driven events throughout the week with an emphasis on supporting local music. Check their event calendar before you go! Thirdly, their large outdoor patio had plenty of seating and a lot of charm! They even have FOOD! (We didn't sample anything, but the menu items looked delicious!) Finally, the main reason for our visit, the "BEER"! Although the tap list seemed skinny at the time of our visit, which we'll attribute to a few large events occurring prior to our visit, what we did sample was enough to make us want to visit again! *Islander (American Lager) - nice light lager; a good entry level lager for the non-craft beer person *Peach Lavender Sour (Sour) - very unique flavoring which we absolutely❤. The lavender balances out the peach sweetness. We thought this could almost pass for a wheat. *Solace (Belgian Saison w/Ginger) - very flavorful, described as fruity and spicy. We noticed more spicy than fruity notes, but no complaints here! *Black Cadillac (Imperial Chocolate Stout) - solid chocolate stout *El Coyote (Mexican Style Stout) - (not pictured) this was our overall winner ❤❤❤ This coffee, vanilla, and cinnamon stout quickly won us over! It was just spicy enough to not distract from the coffee and vanilla notes. *Apologies for the cloudy picture of the beer. It rained prior to our visit and the humidity was literally hanging in the air. Our last brewery in Florida was the Gatlin Hall Brewery in Orlando. It was a large and welcoming spot with a great outdoor section. Flights of 3, ciders, seltzers, and wine is offered and 2 restaurant options inside as well. The Da Kine Poke Bowls which looked amazing, and the Grill and Wood Fired pizzas. Everything we had was delicious and fresh.
