Denman brush styling on this new shorter length. I’m really getting impatient with this hair so I tried a new thing. Didn’t like it.👎🏽 Mousse and a touch of shop bought gel on wet hair. It’s a no from me. Denman styling got me through the lockdown as it can be so quick! But on hair that wants to gently wave rather than curl, it gave me these big curls that do not feel authentic. It’s also a little frizzy. I think when you force your hair to curl in any way other than it’s natural way, you run the risk of frizz as hair just wants to be its authentic self when you are on CGM! It’s far easier to manipulate dry and damaged or chemically processed hair. On the plus side, my hair is soft and easy to manage. It’s also got more length this way. So that’s nice. CURLY CONFESSION✨😅 I sometimes scrunch out the crunch before my hair is dry 🤟🏽🙈 I actually prefer how it looks, and I get a lot more volume 😍 It’s funny how many ‘rules’ there are around what we should and shouldn’t do to our curls... when I started embracing my curly hair for the first time I was so overwhelmed with what I could and couldn’t do. So whilst I call this a confession - I actually do way more things that I’m sure could be considered rule breaking 🤣 (I don’t strictly follow CGM btw) There are no rules, do what you want with your hair! Jwu with my day 2 hair (2nd photo) So I styled with denman dupe brush on a damp hair again. Thought I had to try it again since I've been wet styling for a while now. Then I scrunched with Giovanni mousse after styling, microplopped and applied Bench Purple. Idk what's gotten into me. Lol. But I thought, why not? Then I diffused right away. I call it "free styling" lol. No sectioning, no brushing. I applied the products in general, glazed the gel side by side and air dried for 15 mins before diffusing. Just a couple of points I learnt from yesterday’s wash. This is no way applies to everyone ☺️. I now love finger coiling! It’s given me such amazing curls. It took me forever though so need to practice! (I didn’t just finger coil the odd curl, I tried it on ALL of my curls). I had fun experimenting yesterday and that’s what this is all about. Ive realised it takes my hair two washes to really bounce back from a colour treatment or a blow dry..yes..there is damage and yes it does affect the curl pattern for real. That's why i totally reccomend keeping all that to a bare minimum especially for new converts! Also I'm playing around with pairing the @curls blueberry bliss leave in with a couple of different gels. Last wash I tried it with the @bouncecurl light cream gel and I wasn't "shook" with the results really. Maybe my hair was still under shock from the colour and the heat styling or this gel really needs to be topped up with a stonger gel to really work for me. This will need a bit more experimenting for me to publish my final decision 🤪. 🌟Today, I paired it up with the @giovannicosmetics foam + gel in the #moussegelmousse method and I looove the results! And the other two factors for an amazing wash day were.. The @flawsomeofficial wild banana mask as a conditioner..(an amazing Indian brand for cg friendly masks!) And diffusing with the @dyson_india diffuser! What a game changer diffusing has been for me! It took me just under an hour to wash, style and dry my hair instead of waiting around all day to airdry! Also pre-poo'd and SOTC'd with the @curls hair growth oil. ➿Ok coming back to talking about the leave in ➡️ The @curls blueberry bliss leave in has a good amount of protein and therefore is great for hair that loves it (such as mine). I need just a pea sized amount for my entire hair so I reckon this bottle isn't finishing anytime soon! If you use the right amount it's very light on the hair yet it delivers what it promises to do very well- protects, repairs and moisturises and would do great even on fine haired curlies. 💥And it's available in India @naturallyyounme which is the best news ever! Will be continuing my experiments with pairing this leave in with other gels. EXPERIMENTING... Do you do it? I feel like I do it every wash day. As a Gemini (if you believe in those things haha), I am eternally curious so I love experimenting and spicing things up. It’s more of a need more than anything and in my journey of healthy curly hair, I am willing to try a lot! When I saw @curlyheavensg mix Olaplex No. 3 and deep conditioner, I decided, OH YEAH WHY NOT?? I’m not gonna impose these strict rules on myself. And because of my desire to do a Rice Water rinse (my hair badly needed the shine and definition) was soo great I still added it to my routine even though I only decided to boil rice water only 10 mins before my wash; WHY NOT?? You gotta learn how to improvise! So basically I did rice water rinse in record time. And also I did all these because... I had no choice and I was running out of time. But I needed to look presentable on the opening day of the dine-in area of our milk tea so I went and styled using finger coiling. I had to sacrifice my treatment time but you know what? EXPERIMENT SUCCESS!!! I was extremely happy with the results and I knew right then and there that somehow, mixing olaplex with deep conditioner worked and only I only left it for 10 mins. Rice water that was prematurely taken out of pot ALSO WORKED. And finger coiling definitely worked. Basically this whole post is just me encouraging you to not be afraid of experimenting. You’ll be surprised at what great hair you can achieve from different kinds of routine. How about you guys? Have you tried mixing Olaplex No 3 and deep con? Rinse off completely after. 🌸Olaplex No 3 + Deepcon: Based on intuition, grab a blob of @hagkan_kiss Esther Natural Hair Mask and a bit of Olaplex no 3 and mix then well together. This is my second time washing with ✨ Innersense's Hair Love Prep Spray, and it's official. I'm obsessed. No filter. No photo manipulation. Just me, my natural curls, and my ring light. Today I double washed with the Hydrating Hair Bath, conditioned with the Color Radiance Conditioner, then raked and squished about 10 sprays of Hair Love Prep Spray. The idea with the prep spray is to lock in hydration, and prep the hair for styling products, so you can achieve maximum results. I personally find that it help with second, third and fourth day curls hold hydration, and prevents frizzing. After the prep spray, I styled with Quiet Calm Curl Control Cream, followed by I Create Hold Gel. I have been getting a LOT of questions this week about what products I work best for particular hair types, so I spent my day today putting together some recommendations for you ladies! 🙋🏻♀️ Hands uppppppp if you are ready to get rid of this sticky, tacky frizz that has taken over your hair since the Trust Your Innersense Detox started! In the video below, I demonstrate one of my absolutely favorite ways to un-funk my hair: The Ascorbic Acid Cleansing Treatment. I loveeeee this chelating treatment because it's SIMPLE - AFFORDABLE - EASY - & HIGHLY EFFECTIVE! I personally find this treatment works best to remove pool water, hard water build-up and mild cases of product build-up. Ascorbic acid works to remove oxidized minerals that have bonded to the hair, by breaking their covalent bonds and dissolving them. This treatment is SUPER gentle and can be used frequently if necessary. I sprinkle about 1 tsp into a large serving size (2 pumps of Innersense) conditioner, carefully place and then thoroughly massage into the scalp, rake down the length of my hair, and then use a fire starter motion on places with more buildup. I buy a pouch of powder ascorbic acid on Amazon for about $7.50 and get 20 or so uses out of it. You can immediately feel it dissolved away build-up on the hair from chlorinated pool water. If you have access to one I encourage you to get your hair wet and do this treatment as an experiment. I think you will find it an incredible opportunity to get more personal with your hair by becoming more familiar with what your hair feels like with and without build-up. First of all they smell divine but also, my hair feels so soft & clean. My hair was left so shiny & bouncy and they just feel soooo moisturising, I can’t get over how soft my hair feels - this is the first time in my #curlygirljourney where hair feels noticeably healthier, I can see the difference they have made and that’s only from one wash • • Today I used the curl cleanser because in my previous wash I had used a shampoo with strong cleansing agents and so I wanted something gentle to clean my hair. I can feel that my hair is clean, my scalp and roots feel refreshed but still so soft and hydrated. Very pleased with this shampoo. The other day I told myself I wasn’t going to buy any more hair products...that was before I went on a quest to find products with no protein!• • I have low porosity hair (I think, I mean I’m still learning 🙈) and I found out that I had been using products with protein for each step 😬 Subsequently, my hair got really limp, flat and dry! I then bought some hydrating products and then worked well but they still had some protein in!! Technically day 3 hair but day 2 with my twists out! I love how soft my hair is and this was surprisingly better than I thought, but I miss my actual curls! I USUALLY apply I Create Volume first using prayer hands, then using #glazeandscrunch or #flipcoatscrunch but I wanted to try using my denman brush after prayer hands. I've been loving it for my water and conditioning steps, and I wondered if I could extend the magic. 🧚♀️ . . Process: 🦆Water, water, water💦 🦆 Cleanse with Pure Harmony Hairbath 🧴 🦆 Condition with Hydrating Cream Conditioner (stc, distribute using denman, let sit on top of head ~10 min) 🛀 🦆 Add💧and cold blast 🦆 Apply Volume with prayer hands and distribute using denman brush (why is there no brush emoji 🤦♀️) 🦆Apply more volume by glazing and scrunching 🖐✊ 🦆 Plop 30 min 👳♀️ 🦆 Hover diffuse a few minutes then pixie diffuse to 100% 💨 🦆 SOTC & fluff 👋 . . Results: My initial SOTC & fluff results blew me away, but beyond that (mostly day 2 hair since I went to bed right afterward) wasn't any more impressive than usual. 🤷♀️ I mean, it was great hair, but I feel like I can just skip that step. So if you haven’t heard of hair paint wax, it’s an AWESOME way to try out new colors without damaging your hair! 👩🏻🦱➡️👩🏼🦱 The only drawback is that there’s quite a bit of transfer onto my fingers when I touch my hair and onto my clothing throughout the day 😩 SO!
