I love it to no end when someone brings me their heirlooms of those they loved and asks me to make it something they would wear! Twas quite the day getting finished up & packing my little mini clubman for the Philadelphia Flower Show. It’s pretty crazy that I can pretty much fit my whole 10x10 booth into my little car. It’s a bit like a puzzle really, and I think I’ve filled every nook and cranny . But I can assure you I have brought with me some really good pieces. Well hello there, I have not popped in here for a rather longtime and so …. Let me introduce or reintroduce myself to those who don’t know me. I’ve been the Queen Bee at Elements for more than 40 years now and that alone amazes me. I have always been attracted to vintage and found objects. Both my parents were artistic in very different ways. My mom was an antique dealer and as a child I remember loading up the car with her and my dad to go sell at antique shows. My mom’s sense of display was incredible. ( she was also an interior designer) . Those days were so much fun and Both selling and the hunting, and oh yes, the collecting we did had an electricity about it that I couldn’t resist.My dad a graphic designer, a photographer, and printer brought a different vision to my world. His take was more modern than my mom’s . And so it is no wonder that I studied Design and Environmental Analysis at Cornell and Graphic Design at Pratt. I am a product of both my upbringing and my training yet I veered off the path to find and create something of my own. I currently create handmade, vintage modern repurposed jewelry hair accessories, and holiday decor using both new and vintage parts. I love the assemblage, the collecting ,& the graphic image. I love to create environments that house my designs and show them off. My studio is chock full of parts and I recently realized that I will never be able to use all of what I have in this lifetime. I spend most of my days getting lost in boxes and on scavenger hunts for the perfect piece as I gather all the parts for a particular piece in production . I fall in love on a daily basis with all those little parts . The semi precious stones, the buttons, the metal findings, the vintage cabachons, the ribbons. I discover things I forgot I once bought and get to fall in love with them all over again. I am excited to be show once again at the Philadelphia Flower Show @phsgardening. I’ll be in booth 118.
