an empath walks into a nail salon... { during a pande(monium) } 💦😷 trying to make a joke/make light ( #evermyself) of where I’ve found myself right. now. 🤷🏻♀️🙋🏻♀️ #nofilter yes. gramming y’all live from the pedicure chair. 😐🙄 #showingup ... in a way. teary. tired. life feeling too-much. sharing anyway. (candidly, this is actually my first pedi in a year (!) tried the past 365+ days ... life, babies + a pandemic intervened.) I’d planned this self-care + pre-holiday-toes-upgrade for some time. I’ve got amazing childcare — thanks hubs 🤲🏻 — yet, I didn’t want to go. Too frazzled. Too frayed. Too sobbing. Too unsteady. Too tired. My kiddos “need” me. We’ve had a rough week. Toddler will likely have a meltdown after which I feel responsible to help him find resilience + healing from. Baby will likely need breastfeeding. ... The list. The excuses, I suppose. The (attempted) sabotage of self-care continues... But I went anyway. And for the first time at a salon, instead of reading a trashy pop/culture mag idolizing comparison and drama; or a home lifestyle mag, which will only layer-on the shame + guilt of the state of my own home right now, I plugged in a podcast—👉🏻at random, mind you👈🏻 Well, @jayshetty, your exploratory cast on attachment styles + my state of late, had these (tear) ducts on overdrive. #attachmentstyles = a subject du jour I’ve been organically exploring + assessing more: how I parent + how I was parented (also tip-of-the-hat to @drbeckyathome). I was meant to hear today’s wisdom. Meant to allow these tears + invoke continued healing + releasing. I wasn’t sure if my mask absorbed + showed tears. 😬 The nail tech looked-up at one point, asked if was okay. I quickly received my answer 🙃 + decided to snap this photo as a candid, humorous reminder. This image actually makes me smile. It’s just a representation of life. One of the many shades. I haven’t been doing too okay. And that’s okay. I’m not seeking attention. Or sympathy. I’m actually slightly embarrassed to hit post. But going to, because I think/know they’ll be someone also growing needing to see this. And my people will get this. They will laugh + love alongside me. 🤲🏻 🤍 👋🏻
