This tiny one was born in our backyard this morning. He’s a preemie and will require some bottle feeding. He is the first lamb born to Bianca, age 2. Since the primary purpose for the sheep on our property is English ivy removal, I gave him a British-sounding name: St John (pronounced “Sinjin”). #EweCanDoItNaturally

Does anyone know how to process a fleece?! 🤣😳 Yes, this is what it looks like, 2 unwashed fleeces straight from the sheep. There is a shepherd in my neighborhood(his sheep help clear areas overgrown with ivy, etc). The sheep were clearing ivy at my son’s school this fall and I thought it would be awesome to weave with this (very) local wool. I mentioned it to John #ewecandoitnaturally and here we are! 🤣 My original plan was to have it spun somewhere but honestly I don’t think it’s enough to send to a mill. With much advice and encouragement from @thestrandedsheep I’m going to try cleaning it and spinning it with a drop spindle. Send me all the tips and good spinning vibes you’ve got!
