Meet Chameleon’s Gold! . My process: I first thought of the direction I wanted to go with the effect and the hue, or color, mixture. For Chameleon’s Gold, I decided to mix complementary colors. After mixing and swatching on paper, I adjusted it until I got the transparency, shade and effect I was happy with. I learned from Lynn, @sugarandspiceandmanis , that the glitter needed to be suspended in a particular base, which helped greatly to keep this mix flashy. She also inspired the name, because she said it changed so much in different lighting. . A Pretty Mani @sillymoosey_nails recently posted her not so happy experimenting with the glitter polish I'm wearing here. It's Finger Paints Daubigny's Garden. She tried it over 2 different polishes, a metallic gunmetal grey, and a medium, magenta tinged purple. She didn't like either of them. It is definitely one that is gorgeous in the bottle, but very tricky to find a base that works well with it. Completely by coincidence, I had just finished this mani when I saw her 2 posts about it. Idk that this base is perfect for it, but I am not mad at it. Lol. It's pale enough that the dark glitters are showcased nicely, but is dark enough to help accentuate those iridescent glitters that a paler polish wouldn't do. 1 day, I'm just going to sponge this glitter on for full coverage, and then the quandary over the base is totally negated! Speaking of the base...this OPI is spectacular. I had to squeeze in this weeks @polish.lab.rat color of the week at the last minute since I already had the color pulled. I don’t like the color yellow primary wise, but I do like it in pastels, neons, and mustard shades. This is another 2012 strikes again release that I picked up half of the collection from Sally’s. This is a Sally’s Beauty exclusive brand. This is a pastel yellow creme with an amazing formula that could’ve been two coats if I didn’t bump a nail. I was able to swap out the skinny brush for a KBShimmer replacement brush. I haven’t bought a FP polish in over 10 years, so I’m not sure if they switched to a better brush. Atomic Polish ridge filler for base coat, and KBShimmer Clearly On Top for top coat. Varying degrees of natural daylight on a partly cloudy day at sunset in my photos. Here is a polish from Finger Paints called "Pixi Dust" in a gradient with Essie "Ballet Slippers" Balllet Slippers is really nice. I got it at the thrift store and it's the first time I used it. "Pixi Dust" looks holo in the bottle but it's not so much on my nails. I think it's because I only used a thin coat. It's a nice polish as well. I chose Silkscreen Green from #fingerpaintspolish for this week’s @polish.swatch.challenge Neon Green color prompt. This is a bright neon lime green that is eye popping. It applied pretty good and dried quickly to a semi matte finish. I did need 3 coats to covers some of the streaks and get the opacity I was looking for, but it was definitely worth it.
